Supply issues....

I work in healthcare and we are short everywhere. We are getting by with some temp agencies and giving OT for employees who want it from other properties. This has everything to do with repeated Stimi checks, unlimited unemployment benefits (even given if you quit), tax time and extra deductions. We will set up 10 interviews and one will show. Just need to check the box for continued unemployment.
All the workers are tired and frustrated and we all talk about the problem. Unfortunately most can’t put two and two together to understand this is what a lot of them voted for.

Good points here sir. Well worth quoting and re-posting.

I've considered getting a CDL and doing the truck driver thing myself, but what stops me more than anything is the complete lack of privacy (GPS, speed/gear/engine monitoring, and sometimes even video) an OTR driver has to put up with, not to mention months of living in a tiny space with God knows who until they let you out on your own.

I bet if they didn't monitor your every fart there wouldn't be a driver shortage.
Another thing to consider is you can't take a big rig into drive up fast food parking lots. I recall an article about ten years ago, husband and wife both retired and then went back to work driving for Car Quest (now Advance) they both got trained on the job and drive all over the USA at a team.

They’re getting their way…

When you see the amount of liability insurance companies have to carry. You'd expect companies to make sure their drivers were not putting them in threat of litigation over an accident.

This is gonna take peeing in the pool to a whole different level!!
Probably see a rise in association fees for owners w/pool situations (homes-condos-apt's- vaca. condo's rentals etc...)
I'm just getting our little above ground back into shape the last few days. Stopped into the pool shop twice.
Both times they were having to explain to customers that there is nobody available to clean their pool, install their pool, etc. All of the installers they work with are unable to get people to come in to work, so they are months behind on their work schedule already.
Having a clean working pool is going to be the new flex. Either be able to DIY or pay out the nose to have it done ahead of everybody else.

So in case anyone was wondering this is what a societal collapse looks like. Everything is disfunctional from top to bottom. Hang on to your hats because it doesn’t look like anything is getting better any time soon.
That is the only way we can reverse course on our country. Let those that produce and keep the lights on, the food growing, and supplying the marxists take a Break for about a week. Or just even the waste water operators come down with the flu....

They do it in France... we could organize and call it a Social Union of American Ideal's... not economic.. but you can't bust a union and there is no one else to run the country.
Personally, I think it's too late to reverse course. Too much damage has been done and continues to be done. At this point, I think we have to "ride it out" and hope to make it through to the other side. Top off your stores and batten down your hatches. Prepare to live independently, without reliance on others or external resources as much as possible.

The other reason i'm trying to get the pool clear is to have a fairly clean supply of water in the event that the grid goes down and I can't power the well pump... i mean, assuming the generator also fails or i can't get gas. or propane.

These can be installed with an existing submersible pump. I haven't looked at them in a while. Might be time.

We're also thinking about putting in a larger bladder/pressure tank for reserve. Our well has 50' to water marked on the casing. I hope that's true.

My girlfriend had dinner tonight at the Chili's in Hickory. She called while there and said they were completely out of ketchup and sugar.
That’s because it was fantastic until a clown took over management. They run out of everything they should have ordered.

Well, If that's the case (and I'm aware of how expensive it is which is why we self insure) and you want to video who is responsible for the accident then the cameras need to be faced out into traffic. Around 75% of truck/car accidents are the car drivers fault. But when companies go to video most of the cameras are facing the driver. And statistically, the truck driver less likely to be the problem.
