Surplus 5.56 brass LC, TAA, FC

I have somewhat limited experience so far, but will share what I have learned. Between the LC and FC, I find that most of the FC are shorter than the trim-to length while the LC almost always needs trimming. I think that having a consistent trim length will make the neck tension more consistent. LC is always crimped since it is all NATO brass (at least all that I have seen). Having to remove the crimp is a pain, but if the brass is crimped (and has not had the crimp already removed) you can be sure that the brass is only once-fired.

I have always worked up my precision loads in 5.56 using LC brass, as I have heard that it is good quality for once-fired brass. I don't know if the FC or TAA would be as accurate as I have never made a direct comparison. For plinking ammo, though, I will use FC, TAA, PMC, WCC, etc.

I either use LC brass or Hornady for precision loads. It’s a “standard” that’s hard to beat

TAA is a federal contract 5.56 NATO brass from the 205th Arsenal in Taiwan

BRAC under Clinton (iirc) closed several ammo plants in the US leading us to outsource ammo needs to Taiwan (TAA) South Korea (PMJ) etc
