Okay... Besides the usual hate for springfield I hear from the online crowd, I have been strongly considering putting up my OD green tavor x95 for a hellion. I've handled and shot a hellion and I loved it. I like my tavor but it's not nearly as suppressor friendly and you can't really change out the grip for a standard AR-15 grip like the hellion. Exchange kits are near impossible to find anymore and it just seems the x95 has gone a little stale. I may be wrong.

What are your honest opinions on either platform?

My other options were to go for an Aug or ditch bullpups and go with a PWS or piston AR platform

I like my Hellion, but there are things I'd like to be more muscle memory friendly, and one technical point, the lack of positive bolt hold open without a magazine in the mag well.
As I've never had the pleasure of a Tavor, I only know what I've read, but the bullpup has grown on me. I wish I'd been old enough to get one of the rare FAMAS that were imported when I was too young to buy........
But I wish you luck on your decision, and I'm partial to the new 20 inch Hellion.

Thank you! I am all too familiar with the AR platform and the x95 has excellent ergos I'll give it that. Tough decision. I just saw the 20" release. Really hoping for a "gen 2" with upgraded mag well and safety lever on the hellion. Happy New year brother!

trade?
I would hope you get a "trade value" from whatever shop and then offer one of us a chance to match/beat it
I had heard the hellion was long and not balanced well, but i didn't understand until i picked one up and played with it for a few minutes. I wouldn't buy one without a massive discount

I would post it on here man for sure, I wouldn't leave y'all out

Would this decision have anything to do with your screen name? :D

I find that the X95 is the most compact bullpup that I own, and that's their purpose for me. Overall, I think I like it a little bit more than the AUG, with the Hellion coming in 3rd. The Hellion's length of pull is a bit long and I feel a little stretched compared to the AUG and especially the X95.

Hellion is a much better option. Tavor suffers from the top rail drifting when it gets hot and a mediocre trigger. Hellion is much better on both accounts.

I think you've already made up your mind and just need help accepting your gut instinct. :) You're right. You should do the thing. The Hellion is a great rifle. If you want to get the Hellion for all the reasons you described, I personally do in fact agree with you and I think it's the right move forward for your application.

Can't say I agree with you, my 20 inch Hellion balances nicely with the heavy Wolf PSU on it, but I don't have anything to compare it to.
But, being uneducated in bullpups, my novice opinion obviously doesn't count

(Hoping to not drift the thread off much) Iā€™d love one, SBR sized and have full velocity 18ā€-20ā€ barrels. But, why does relocating the action in the stock seem to double the weight? If theyā€™d go on a weight and price diet, Iā€™d have more than one.

I mean.... I did but an ecelon last week hahaha. Hey man we make good guns, what can I say!

Best is the MDRX
Not even close. Broken parts, broken extractors, screws coming loose from the barrel block, handguard sagging when it gets hot, handguards breaking, charging handles breaking, POI shifts.

Never had any of those problems even changing calibers. As I said it is a very complicated weapons system .

I had an x95, now have a Hellion.

The Tavor was too inaccurate for me. All the cries of "combat accuracy" or "mine is accurate" from the internet couldn't change the fact that it was half as accurate as my poverty pony PSA build, embarrassingly so.

I wouldn't grab either should I actually need a carbine for real carbine tasks. You can train out of the ergo stuff easily enough, but damn are those things are heavy. Cries of "centralized mass" and "balanced" (which is true for the Hellion, you can damn near stand it on the grip and it won't tip front/back) not withstanding, when it's slung up you notice every pound.
