My wife, daughter and I have been making the rounds to all the state parks in SC. Today we cruised down to Warrens Lake state park and, Rivers bridge state historic site. (The closet being about 2.5hrs from home)
Well, about 5 miles from arriving at the first park, the tire pressure light comes on and I pull up the pressures on the dash and saw the LR was deflating quickly. Pulled over and found a jagged chunk of metal embedded in the center of the tread. Tires toast. :/
Bolted up the cheesy little donut spare and visited the first park, and then started searching online for tire stores. Let me tell you this. You ever need a tire in that part of the state you are SOF'ingL.....nothing around for 50-60 miles in any direction.
Proceeded to the next park and started making calls to the far away shops...no luck on the low profile 18's my wife's car runs. And by this time it was getting pretty late. Had to suck it up and head the now 3hrs home (well would've been if I had been able to do the speed limit)
Took back roads and highways all the way to Colombia, stopped and checked the spare and it was a little warm. Said and prayer and hit 77N. Seventy Seven miles doing 55 while everyone else was blowing past at 70+. That 8 year old spare held together and we made it home without any other incidents.!!!
I'm usually pretty cool under pressure but man today had me anxious. So thankful to be home
