That’s not a wolf

We can read. Should thought she shot a wolf puppy, but it was not. It was a dog.

She still looks like an idiot despite any press releases by anybody and despite whatever wild dogs you eradicated to protect cows. Just sayin' man.
I know you never made a mistake.
Maybe we should throw her in jail with the 1/6 people.

🙁

Wolf/dog not really the same as deer/cow

Come on, you are not that dense. Woman could not identify what she was killing. That is wrong. I’ve got no problem shooting a feral dog, or a piorly trained domestic one intent on doing harm, but you should have a clue what you are killing before shooting. Unless you’re just a killer, not a hunter. It is on the hunter to follow the rules and know what they are doing. She didn’t. There should be some penalty. Besides being publicly shamed for her stupidity.

A better analogy might be someone in western NC shooting a small elk thinking it was a deer. I can see how both could happen, especially with an inexperienced hunter, when you aren’t expecting to see a husky or an elk where you are hunting.

Growing up in NY I fished a lot. Walleye opener was May1st. Bass was usually the 3rd Saturday in June. If you got caught with a bass in the boat or i. Your bucket in May you got a nice fine. Ignorance was not an excuse. I remember reading the NY fishing regulations as a little kid and studying the pictures. They all looked like fish to me. Heck I carried the little book in my tackle box so I could look at the pictures if I needed to identify something. And I was a little kid. People need to take some responsibility.

I was reading a thread about how happy people where that the libs were getting guns. But people aren’t happy when a woman gets a gun and makes a mistake hunting.
This just amplifies the idea that maybe it’s a good idea some people never even get the thought of owning a gun.
It’s not for everyone. It takes a certain mindset that not everyone in this moronic world is privy to.

I don't disagree about the responsibility, but I do see how it could happen to someone. How she handled it is more my problem with her rather than she misidentified and shot a dog that looks more wolfish than your average breed.

KY has an interesting take on the elk/deer confusion. By their game laws, an elk isn't "an elk" outside certain counties in eastern KY. Those elk have been seen a couple hundred miles away from their established range in the mountains of eastern KY. Inside those counties, though, you better make sure you are actually shooting a deer.

That happened in Kentucky back in the early 2000's and also in Wisconsin about 4-5 years ago.

Again, that is a law. Is there a law that restricts the killing of feral dogs?

I bet there is a law broken by dumping dogs in game lands. Maybe we should spend our resources tracking them down for punishment. 😉

No kidding. Bleach white fur, come on.

She apparently pulled the "it was coming right at us" card once she got negative responses. Funny how stories change, you'd think if a wolf tried to attack her, that would be the focus in the initial post, glory hounds love drama. Not to mention, Huskys (as a breed) are not "come at you growling and snarling" type dogs. She's worse at damage control than CNN.

once it caught the scent of peanut butter, it was focused like a laser on her

Do we know the dog was feral or dangerous? It looked a lot cleaner than my dog.

Ask the local sheriff what he suggests you do with dogs running at large.

Well I am in Wake County. Our Sheriff would likely suggest letting your toddlers out with raw meat to feed them. Such is the state of Wake County today. 😠

Plus she said it was a wolf. Not a dog.

For years Frank’s wife begged him to take her hunting. He put her off as long as he could; finally, he gave in. They went to a place where bucks were likely to be found. He placed her where she could get a good shot at any deer that came along, and he trudged through the underbrush to another location about a half-mile away.
Before he could get into position he heard two shots. “Oh no!” he thought, “If she gets a deer before me I’ll never live it down.” Then he heard his wife screaming, “Now, step back. That’s my deer!” As he raced through the woods he could see his wife aiming her rifle at a man whose hands were raised above his head. She yelled again, “I said, step away! That’s my deer!”

As Frank arrived at the scene the man yelled, “Okay, Lady. You can have your deer. Just give me a minute and let me get my saddle off of it.”

I dont have any issues shooting wild dogs. They are awful for the local wild life and can put children in danger... BUT when we kill a wild dog generally you leave it in the woods or make sure its buried. Skinning a dog just doesnt sit right for me. How could you get that far and say "man ive never heard of a wolf with a curled tail." How did the person taking a picture not know its a dog? Cant tell me two idiots cant spot a dog between the two of them?

Saw on news this morning this woman has been charged with animal cruelty
