The more we make something, the better we get at making it and the cheaper it gets to make.
That's why PCs, kitchen appliances and - yes - petrol and diesel cars, became so affordable.

read all about s-curve supply and demand:

Yes, the fact many governments around the world are setting targets to ban the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles gives impetus to the process.

I think "clean green" govts / climate change / global dictators are a much bigger driver for EVs than their battery shortcomings.
Batteries don't have the same energy density (kilowatt/ horsepower per pound) that gasoline does & it costs a lot more per horsepower.
Pedo Joe & his NAMBLA buddies want to destroy fossil fuels to add more confusion to their reset agenda.

If I jump in my truck, I can go over 500 miles before I have to stop. After that I have to stop for 5 minutes to fill up and am good for another 500 or so miles. With any electric vehicle, I am going to have to stop about 10 times for at least 8-10 hours at a time. You are talking 4 days of charging time to cover the same 5 minute refill time in my truck.

For those of you who are sure they know what uncle joe is thinking... and I cannot be sure you don't... what am I thinking right now?

I do not remember the details, but I saw a video on this. Given the number of miles americans drive and how much an electric car consumes per mile, we would have to start building nuclear power plants now... one every three weeks, to meet the demand of all electric by 2035
Exactly and also will have to upgrade the distribution system.

The S curve assumes that there is no barrier to manufacturing capacity. EVs won’t get cheaper on the curve rate because of mandated demand.

EV's are great in a city. Short journeys, plenty of braking to offer some level of recharge, and charging/supercharching points everywhere. Guess where they don't work - rural areas and for any time there's a load to haul/tow.

Guess where FJB's main supporters are? Coincidence?

Having said that, battery tech will get better. The newer graphene batteries should offer vast improvements in charging speed and an incremental improvement in power to weight ratio. From my understanding they will be way better for the environment as well.

Just thinking about battery powered tools (where there was actual market driven demand), and it took 30yrs (?) To get to the point we're at now.

There's a long way to go before these things are ready for prime time

This battery powered EV stuff is a joke.

Jokes on the Idiots buying them. The lithium mining. Yep that's good for the planet right. I love to watch their faces change when they say oh I bought it for the environment. Oh yeah and let us not forget what actually powers most of the nation's grid. Coal and Nuclear........

Plug it in Plug it in.

When Ford introduced his Model T, the US Govt did not 'invest' in 500,000 gas pumps. Why 'invest' in 500,000 charging stations?
When Democrats say 'invest' they mean spend and tax.

Better batteries just make for better storage and delivery of energy. That energy still has to come from somewhere. Also keep in mind the problem of ozone bring generated by those electric motors. Ozone is already one of the biggest killers of ecosystems downwind of industrialized cities.

Most of us gonna DIE before we would need to worry about it. If Oil was kaput, or Wall Street saw its imminent demise, refining stocks would be getting cheaper, not more expensive. If the idiots screaming climate doom don’t bend over and take a Nuclear Plant construction Enema soon, like now, all this Green horse poo is going to blow up in their faces.
Assuming the computer hackers in Russia and China haven’t remotely crashed all the Walmart’s in the world, causing widespread panic and the peaceful rioting and theft that goes with that panic. I’ll enjoy the view in the streets, but you better have a big generator if you need tv or hvac🙈

Nothing is going to help the environment until China stops building dirty, coal fired, power plants. China needs to use scrubber technology.
Yeah, I was referring to the lack of lithium mining for graphene batteries... however I'm not sure on the supply or elements required to manufacture graphene so it could be even worse :(

That is true, however if you just look at power consumption, EV's are typically better when compared one to one. The thing that people forget is that .gov gets a LOT of tax revenue from fossil fuels, so once the scale starts to lean towards EVs and the point of no return is reached... guess what will happen to the cost of electricity?
