Do you guys have any good frame recommendations? I do not have confidence that, after spending hundreds on labor and shipping both ways, 1) BD will fix the HAL right and 2) something else won't break and start the whole crappy process over. The HAL was $1860 (after a $140 discount) and retail price on the components is a little over $2000, so it's no great loss to toss the Motobecane frame.
The ideal frame would have the following traits:
A GG frame would be an obvious choice, but I'd have to 1) buy a new shock and 2) have the rear rim offset 3mm. Add in those two expenses and it's just an average deal and not a great deal.
- From a reputable mfgr that has good warranty and support
- Less than $3000, and the lesser the better
- Carbon or alloy
- 29er
- Tapered headtube
- Rear suspension travel suitable for a 150mm Pike up front
- 190x51 rear shock length
- Boost spacing
Are you looking for another bike or just frame?
Check out PinkBike also, lots of good stuff on there for saleJust a frame. The Motobecane has less than 200 miles on it and great components. I'm going to strip it and use the parts to build a new bike.
Holy crap that is a great deal! Thank you for the link; I will bookmark it.
I forgot to mention one other requirement: it has to be a 29er.
edit - this one has potential, although the rear travel is a little short.

What size frame are you looking for?
Short travel in the rear? Where do you plan on riding this thing? Whistler A line or Dirt merchant?
Went to Beech today. Absolutely had a great freakin time. Down hill parks are awesome. Only one minor get off. Need more pics next time I go in two weeks.
77 degrees, light breeze, 17 miles worth of fast downhill

Only trail changes I see was the Cane break jump line.Did they make any new trails or the same bunch as last year? What sort of restrictions did they have in placef the lift?
I'm thinking about heading up there this weekend.

As far as lift lines, not much at all except for breaking it up in two sections till the crowds die down. We still got 10 lifts Sunday starting at 10:30 and left at 5 with stopping for lunch
Wasn’t what I was originally after. But I couldn’t let this deal go. 2019, new old stock, Santa Cruz Chameleon, S+ build. Convertible to a single speed, can extend the rear(chainstays) from 425 to 455 mm rear thru different end pieces. 29 inch wheel compatible. Fox 34 performance fork

Sweet! Congrats! One question though:
Rode Academy on Monday for the first time. Academy is a steaming pile of horse**** that should be set on fire, pissed all over, and then bulldozed so that someone who is not a completely inept monkey can design a new trail that is more than than just a bunch of haphazard lines drawn on a map. But, that's just my opinion.
Riding Mazeppa on Tuesday restored balance to The Force.
You thought shooting was an expensive hobby? Well it is. But so are bicycles, MTB or road, spending Nighthawk money on a bike isn’t uncommon. You can get out on the trails for $500-$10k, whatever floats your boat.I’m following along because I started riding for cardio at the end of last year. Mainly rails to trails flats and some hilly single track at the house. I have a Specialized Crosstrail at the moment and was thinking about getting something more suited to off the manicured path riding. I have to say, I’m impressed with the sticker price on some of your rides.

Everything sucked yesterday. That heat was horrible. I did a shakedown ride on Panda, Bandit, Smokey, Rail and Prairie, 10 miles, none of which was nice. You breath the fumes from the oak trees sweatingI'll have to try Academy again. Maybe my first impression was off-base. It probably didn't help that it was 187 degrees out.
Have car, will travelSeems like most everybody is in the Charlotte area. Anybody in the Greensboro, Winston, High Point area?
IIRC I’m the only one out of those who attended the group rides over the past year. It definitely takes some getting used to and you’ll fall a couple times, but after that it’s pretty nice not having to worry about your feet slipping off on really rough stuff and it’s a little more efficient. I’m not a powerhouse pedaler so I can use all the extra efficiency I can get haha.Curious, how many of you use clip in pedals on the trails? I get it when on a road but with uneven terrain I would think it would be somewhat dangerous.

Nope, just my phone for mapmyride but didn’t use it very long. Despite having a very analytical job, I never got into tracking/analyzing my rides, it’s just for fun.Has anyone ever used anything like a Garmin Edge when exploring new trails? If so, what is your opinion?
I use an edge for rode riding but always just use my phone with Strava turned on for trails. Am sure edge would work it’s just cause I don’t have a mount for MTN bike.Has anyone ever used anything like a Garmin Edge when exploring new trails? If so, what is your opinion?
