The Gun Run, June 22nd, Ellerbe NC

Dang, just realized I got 3gun out of state on same day. Good luck fellas.

Still gonna work towards one of these!

Have you posted this event on the Matt Stennet's Run and Gun facebook page? It seems to be heavily trafficked.

If you all know of some good North Carolina based firearm or tactical gear companies that you think would be good sponsors, let me know. So far I've found mostly out of state sponsors more willing to support the race with prizes.

I just signed up. Now I need to get better about working on my cardio.

I will not break any land speed records. But i will finsh the match safely. Lol
Lol. I just have to make up for my terrible shooting with as much running as possible.

Stupid question, does an AR pistol count as a rifle for this?

Just got some 40 round AR mags and 21 round Glock mags from our sponsor Magpul to give away on the random draw prize table. Hope you all are continuing to train and acclimatize to the temperature change.

I just left the match sponsor War Dog's Surplus in Southern Pines. Great store, if you are a gear nerd like me, they have some real cool stuff thats all military grade nylon + more.

I bought a Army issued hydration kit, pack, bladder, hose for $20! For this race, i needed one with all this heat. I did not want a pos walmart crap system i knew would fail me.

So my knee has blown up and I've been advised to not put stress on it for at least a month. Can I donate my spot to another person?

If you rest for the next two and a half weeks, could you walk the course? If not just send an email to [email protected] and I'll refund your ticket.
I was advised not to. I've been looking forward to this for months now, and I'll have this as well as my vacation last week ruined by my "good knee" being hurt.

I did a full dress rehearsal this morning. I found some glaring gear issues! One of my pistol mag pouches broke mid-run. I was also unhappy with my pistol holster slapping me in the hip the whole time. On the plus side, my battle belt and rifle sling worked great.

What are you other guys planning to use for pistol holsters and mag pouches?

Double taco's that are 1 rifle, 1 pistol per-pouch x4 on the belt. That gives me 120rnd 5.56 and 68rnds 9mm.

Holster is a Safariland 6304 lvl3 with leg strap.

I also use a Safariland holster. I have it with the two inch drop panel off my battle belt and it stays put nicely. I don't like drop legs, they always seem to bang around and if I mounted the holster straight to the belt it would ride to high and make for a more difficult draw. The 2 inch drop is perfect.

Expect to find some other glaring issue when you are doing the race. That's why these are so great!

Agree completely. Droplegs near a knee is a joke. Lol

A technique to measure how low to drop a drop rig, the shooting hands fingers should curl under the muzzle of the holster with out dropping the shoulder to accomplish this.

I didn’t want to go out and buy much so I’ll just have a couple pistol and rifle mags on the belt with a kydex holster I made.

Everything stayed put on a run the other morning.

Everything else is just going to go in a small backpack.

I ran really early the other morning in our neighborhood with all my gear and belt (minus the rifle) and a track jacket over everything.

Pretty sure I looked like the Michelin Man with all those extra bulges.

Thats why i am glad to be part of a private gun club. I have done a few shakeout runs "I am slow as crap" btw, but i got the chance to run in full kit and shoot under "stress".

No joke, very. I was able to do 4.5 miles jogging, walking at 1hr 7mins 2 weeks ago.

Thats like a 15min mile pace. Lol

I just ran 2 miles at full effort in 20mins last week.

So a 5k pace? 40+45mins for me.

I would love to team up dragging the ass in of the race. Lol

John
