Anybody else going? I’m on my way for RO and NV night tonight White light guys run tomorrow.

GREAT time at the Night Ops last weekend. I RO'd and ran Friday night, then RO'd again Saturday. I didn't get much in the way of pics myself, but will steal content from some of the other competitors.

This video....the runner was using a SiOnyx digital camera for his NV device. Rigged to a skateboard helmet with some sheet metal brackets and screws. Not a high dollar rig by any stretch...and he came in top 5!

What the video doesn't show is all of the movement between stages. STEEP climb up a long hill through the woods, a couple creek crossings, steep climb down a hill through the woods...This was my first run using PVS-14. My entire goal for the course was to not fall on my keister. I failed. Miserably. As in, I wish there had been trail cams set up for the blooper reel. I think the run ended up coming in just under 4K (2.8 miles?).

Tons of fun with an awesome group.

I'll steal and post some more content as I find it.

Jeez -- I need to get in better shape before I try one of these. (I also can't run due to disk compression in my lower spine, so it'd take me a LONG time...)

How powerful of a light would you recommend for the white light course? Any certain optics seem to do better than others? I sae the night runs say rifle shots up to 100 yards and pistol to 25 yards. Just curious about the equipment as I think I'm going to try and snag a flat top AR for the night run. Anyone use a PCC like a PC9? Seems like thatd be great for those rifle shot distances and be much cheaper to shoot.

We had several PCC 'rifles', including one incredibly short MP5 that did quite well.

You don't "need" a $300+ light to run these things, but you do need a weapons rated light. If you just rig an old maglite up, you'll find that most will cut out under recoil. Now that being said, there is a significant difference in a $100 WML and the Gucci gear. The Gucci gear tends to have a higher candela (as opposed to lumens) that act a bit like a laser beam. That can actually be a detrimient on some stages as you can wash out your sight or even the target with too much light.

I'd encourage anyone that has even a mild interest to sign up and come on out. It's a great time.

You need to be in shape to win. You don't need to be in shape to participate. If you can walk 5K, you can do this. I'm an old broke down fat ass that can't run 100 yards without being winded. I truly enjoy every moment of these matches. It's very much a 'compete against yourself; try to improve yourself' atmosphere.
