Inspired by another thread....

Where are the “do not go” places in your county?

Whether it is crime, terrible food, horrible service, or just plain old fashioned animosity..... where are your no-go-zones?

Pull up a map of Cumberland. You'll see the Cape Fear River, most everything to the left of it is worth avoiding.
I’ve had a couple bad experiences in Fayetteville, but I’ve also had them in Lumberton, Raleigh, and Durham. I used to drive trucks for a living, and I’ve seen a lot. I was called out on this from another thread, and invite that fellow to drive through Chadburn after dark and report back.... I’ve lived in Fayetteville for 56 years and I’m very healthy.

Seriously, to me, it's pretty apparent which parts of town to avoid. My condolences to those that can't figure it out.

As far as restaurants, I avoid all of those bougie "Southern cuisine with a fine dining twist" hipster dumps that pop up in big cities. They think serving you yankee-made brown water in a ball jar is the same as your momma's ice tea, put garlic in their mashed potatoes (not that I'm against it, but it ain't Southern), and serve you dry-assed biscuits/cornbread without a dish of butter. Hard pass.

Open Kitchen in Charlotte. Why is this place still open?

My GPS is programed to avoid Chadburn 🤣

Most of Tarboro, Rocky Mount, and Kinston NC are armpits. In Greenville, MLK Blvd and two blocks in either direction. Anywhere North of the Tar River.

Carolina Ale House is the only restaurant I've had consistent bad experiences with. I never liked it. But several of my friends do for whatever reason. The service is horrible.

Reactions: Me.
If I see more than two of any combination of cheque-cashing / pawnshop / title loan joint close to each other, I keep rolling. Bonus points for car dealerships that say "we finance anyone" or "zero down" and are a former gas station / mechanics shop with beaters outside.

Places I avoid. Durham, Chapel Hill, Henderson, downtown Raleigh, Fayetteville, Red Springs, Lumberton. If you must go, pack heat.

No need to pack heat in Chapel Hill.

Just look people in the eye while having a beard and a set of balls and they cower in fear and drive 10mph below the speed limit just to make sure they don’t get their ass kicked.

Durham...crime's so bad the Chief of Police moved to Memphis which statistically has worse crime than well just about anywhere
She was a piss poor excuse for an officer much less a chief. Same goes for the entire city council ,mayor and county officials. That's why Durham is in the. shape it's in.even the sheriff was fired from police chief in Hillsboro for misappropriation of funds

Google maps and Fayetteville.

Its been a few years back, we had our first smart phones and we were headed to the beach. We thought we would try using the Google maps directions so we could find a different way. The directions took us through Fayetteville, which I am not familiar with at all. The directions tell us to take a right off the main road we are on. Two blocks later, we pass a funeral home with BARS ON THE WINDOWS!!!! For several more blocks everything had bars on the windows.

Once we got back to civilization , we had a good laugh about it.

This exact thing happened to me last week. I let my 19yo daughter lead the convoy and we went that same route! You described it perfectly.

I occasionally get on MLK Blvd. in High Point on my way to a small private range.

I’m always driving my wife’s Explorer with the back seats folded down with my M107 parked back there on it’s bipod because it’s too dang big to fit in my Jeep.😂

Keeping it company back there is my .50 Beo, my shotgun, sometimes my 6.5 Grendel AR, and my .357 Coonan up front with me.

I started this thread because I've seen Fayetteville used as the punchline of more than a few jokes.

My wife wants to visit 'Christmas Tree Shops'.

I Googled it and it's on Skibo Road.

Being a transplant, I know nothing of Fayetteville, but I know at the range I've heard the name "Skibo Road" a bunch of times, and it's never in a good light.

It can't possibly be a no-go-zone with all the commerce that happens there, but I do want to follow the adage of "don't go stupid places".
I grew up in Fayetteville. Moved away in 1994.

Skibo wasn't the worst place by then but it wasn't great. I'm sure it's not any better today.

In my town, it's Dizzy Gillespie. You just don't go there.

Steer clear of Fisher Hill, while you're at it.
