The best hot dogs I've ever had were all from Chicago - both red and brown. For some reason the folks up there are good with meats. Also the toppings are the best. Bright green relish, cucumbers, tomatoes, sport peppers, pickle....
I would have never guessed this thread would have gone 4 pages.
I think the red one’s will kill you quickest.
Pure sacrilege!!!!Grew up in NC, and never could stand those nasty dyed red hotdogs. If you've got to color the meat to sell it, it was never fit to eat to begin with.
those hot sausages are like crack! Family would by them in the giant jars, like on the counter at a gas station!I used to love buying these at a gas station! Eat the dog, then drink the teaspoon of vinegar out of the sleeve.
When I was on active duty, at Camp Lejeune, I got in the habit of eating 4 or 5 of these a day. One day my poic pulled me aside and ordered me to stop eating them because nobody wanted to ride in the GOV with me because I constantly smelled like garlic and vinegar. He said it was oozing out of my pores...
Hahaha! I haven't had one in years and now I'm afraid to eat one because I know I'll fall right off the wagon and end up having a hotdog heart attack...

Seriously, no experienced dog or sausage eater would consider those crappy red things as worthy of any respect. I’m sure there is some small place somewhere in the south turning out great dogs, brats or sausages. But the Midwest and NY have tons pf great options in that area. It is about equal to claiming NY whole hog cooking is as good as NC‘s. That would be just dumb. Or maybe Nebraska has great seafood. Yeah, sure.
Well… I was out shopping today, in a hurry and hungry… because of all the talk on this thread… picked up a hotdog…. From Sam’s Club…
FAIL!!!!!!!!!!
Haha! There was a line across the back of the store of folks waiting for one.. it’s nuts during the Xmas season. Next time the pizza slice MAY be a better option. Thinking about making my way over to shorty’s in Wake Forest, tomorrow, to help right today’s wrong.Sounds like you should have sprung for the rotisserie chicken.
WORD! I relish this, dog
With you on both.. for some reason the loose bag taste better to me than the vac pack.I am a loose bag guy myself, lol. Eat them cold straight from the bag
Gotta give this joint a try.. looks good. You can see where they char the hotdogs. Doing it right! Looks like it is not too far down the road from White Swan BBQ

Heid's of Liverpool
Established in 1917, Heid’s is a Central New York landmark. Our Hofmann dogs have a uniquely delectable flavor that only a Heid’s visitor can describe. Customers feel it’s the way they’re grilled; others are convinced it’s the formulation of the product itself that lends Heid’s dogs an aroma and...heidsofliverpool.com

Hahaha.. there must have been one Southerner that moved there and inspired them… we fry everything!!!’I saw the fried pickles now on their menu now. WTF, that must be new. Yankees don’t eat fried pickles.
Dang good guess!Lottery tickets.
I’ll pretty much put any wiener in my mouth.
