well I bought 2 pro mag magazines for my sig p229 and when I tried them out they both has the same malfunction the 1st 3 rounds loaded and fired with no issues the next 3 failed to feed and the last 6 (in the mag worked just fine I duplicated this 4 times with each magazine (both factory loads and my reloads) I took the "guts" out of a sig mag and installed it in the pro mag body with the same results installed Pro mag "guts" in the sig body and it works like a champ I am at a loss as to what the cause could be. what has me bewildered is that it only fails (and always fails) on the same 3 rounds in the magazine

The sig mags work just fine but I like to have at least 6 mags for every Gun I own and the pro mags were about 1/2 the price

Ahhh! There lies the problem. Trying to get something for nothing. I ain't real smart, but if it works stick with it.

I had never before bought Pro mag and I thought if they are that bad how are they still in business. yes a moment of weakness

I've had problems with the mec gar aftermarket mags as well. I went with Sig branded OEM mags and all the problems disappeared. Along with my wallet.

I wonder this as well but have to remind myself that people are dumb and not everyone actually shoots their guns very much.

Promags are hit or miss. Most I've tried have been total crap. However, I have 3 Promag 15rd G19 mags I bought in 1995 and they have never malfunctioned. Not even after I kept them in an ammo can fully loaded for 10 years. Took them out to the range and emptied them as fast as I could. No malfunctions. Regardless, I still use them for the range only.

I have been that guy standing in the aisle in the gun store. For 30 minutes. In one spot. I am there staring down the mags. I know I should buy brand A, but it is $32.99/ea. Dayum that is high. Oh, but look brand B is only $24.99. I want 5 mags. That $40! The temptation is strong. Then I consider what is the cost of a mag malfunction at the wrong time.

So I end up buy 8 of the good ones and later get yelled at by my wife for spending too much money. But I sleep well that night.

I had what could be a related problem with a Kahr. I had two magazines that were dropping out with two rounds remaining in the mag. Every time. Careful examination revealed that when there were three rounds left in the mag, the follower was moving past the window in the mag body and pressing against the mag release latch. Just enough to loosen but not release the mag. When I fired the third round recoil did the rest and dropped the mag. I filed ten thousands off the side of the follower on the side that went past the window in the mag. That solved it for me.
Don't know if that will help you but I would check the widths of the followers and the mags with a micrometer.

Those Pro Mags could save your life one day. Train with and shoot matches with them, you'll become a pro at clearing your Sig quickly and getting it shooting again. :)
