My house is on a hill overlooking the town. Just below me is a major thru road..
it's 8am and ive seen maybe 1 car every few minutes..

Normally there are cars lined up at the stop sign waiting to the road to clear so they can turn.
I've gotten immune to hearing traffic all day, but now it's quiet, and when I hear a car, I've got to look and see who it is.

Oh, also, the Fire truck, EMS and Ambalances have been eerily quite too....

Ain't it great.............. Unfortunately that means a lot of folks are out of work or stuck at home, bad juju.

Remember the days following 9/11, when we no longer heard planes? We’re under GSO’s flight path and the silence was eerie.

Don't get me wrong.. I ain't saying I don't like it...
Sucks for those not getting a free Work day wondering if they will still have a job when it's over.

but yeah, quiet.

I live on a main highway in my area, it is like The Walking Dead here. Very few cars compared to constant traffic.

That really surprises me. My daughter and a few of her college friends are up there right now. Based on the pictures I thought it would have caused more commotion. And based on the pictures I’ll need a virus hazmat crew up there next week. :(

It’s been the same way in front of my house, normally about 7:45 to 9 AM it’s bumper-to-bumper and they’re backed up from the stoplight probably 75 yards. We can’t get out of our driveway half the time. It’s also the same in the afternoons about 2 to 330 when school gets out. And then from about 415 until six it’s nuts. But the past three days it really has been very very quiet.

My road is a cut thru to town and all those people would drive 55 in a 35. From 7 to 8:30 it would be constant. I have not heard one car pass for an hour.

Truthfully, the folks up here aren’t making a big deal of it except toilet paper, ammo, and canned goods. Traffic is insanely slow right now, but there are still many out and about. Many are people coming to their mountain homes to weather the storm. (I don’t blame them at all).

If things go truly south we’ll be up there. More deck space to mount my Grendel with a bipod up there. And more firewood for fires and cooking. But the Hone Store is closed.

My wife and I had the same realization over dinner last night. she looks at me and says "listen... quiet"
There were no planes, no traffic noise. it was nice.

the only city noises I still hear are sirens.

Quickest way to make the corona virus go away?

Start spreading the rumor that Trump's thinking about postponing the November election.

there were a few people out on the river trail last evening while I was down there scrounging the river for shop materials.

Always Country Quiet here...well except when we are all blasting away. We are ensconced with provisions and all vehicles full of $1.88 gas. The only thing that can possibly go wrong for us is loss of Power. As long as that holds we are good for 6 weeks at least. Gates will remain Closed except for family and Alumni.
As for whether it's called for or not, I only know we are closed for the first time in 70+ years. I have no alternative but to play "Their Game".
One more thing....as always, if You need to come here for relief that you think we can provide...we are available...

Noise of your own making is always the relaxing kind. ;)

The "Old US Hwy 64" dragstrip has been eerily quiet out where we are the past couple of days. But the local Walmart is still quite sporty, I hear.

Downtown Raleigh was like a ghost town yesterday at 4PM on my way to the office.

When the DNA strands of the Wuhan flu are sequenced it reveals evidence that will put Hilliary in prison.

Load'em cheap, stack'em deep.

I was in downtown Winston Salem yesterday around 530 and it was dead, was in downtown Greensboro this morning same way.

Only when someone complains about my shooting at home. :(

Like the no traffic but it is erie. We were talking on a call for work yesterday this is going to test the internet resources for sure with all the bandwidth usage from businesses having employees work from home and the others surfing and watching tv out of work.

This was I40 eastbound through RTP yesterday at about 4:45. Any of you that have to endure this on a regular (or occasional) basis can attest to just how light this traffic is. There were more cars on the road when it “snowed” earlier this year. 5FB814FA-D756-438A-B4AE-A9009E1D9D4E.jpeg
