Why is the 1st welds always the best?
Time to clean up, lots of clean up, but then the strap is just to keep things together and aligned. No real structural requirements other than that.

Ran out of time and ambition around 4pm today. Have the bolts, etc. so I should have everything mounted up tomorrow. Will post final results.

Drilled, painted, and mounted. Could extend 3" more to be perfect but a 4x4 block will make it up.
