Thoughts on the punch

Shot some today, seemed among the more accurate in the MkIII. Some Aguila 38gn HPs and (confusingly) Win Super X also did good. CCI SV was fine, not as obviously better as it is out of the 10/22, so I’ll probably save it for that. I can’t figure out why Tac-22 is purchased. It consistently causes me trouble. Need to try the Mini-Mags in the MkIII.

For what application? In the .22 world bullet weight and depth of penetration are everything unless you're talking about squirrels.
Someone gave me some to try, but haven't yet. I haven't researched them, but I'm a bit skeptical of lightweight (29gr) high speed over heavyweight (40gr) at max velocity like the Velocitor. Although, were not talking about a lot of difference. Not to say it's a bad round. I like some of the concepts behind the design. More importantly, how does it work in YOUR gun(s).

Punch seems made for short barrel 22LR BUGs, I guess like an LCP etc. Even on the box they quote 1075fps out of a 2” barrel which I haven’t seen otherwise. Not disagreeing with your reasoning, just caught my attention that they noted it.

Makes sense. Not going o get as much velocity out of the 40gr super velocity rounds in a short barrel. First time i looked at the package I thought it said 21gr bullet and completely dismissed it. At 29gr it makes a llittle more sense, especially since the bullet design is focused on penetration, which is the main problem. And th bullet is a "flat point" design, which is better than a regular rounded or HP for that matter. The more I look at it, the more I'm liking it, for short barrel handguns.
