As part of my New Year's resolution to shoot more, I'm looking to get into the .22lr precision game! I hope to eventually get good enough to do some NRL22 competitions, and I'd like to get a rifle I won't outgrow quickly.

I've narrowed it down to the T1X and CZ 457 Provarmit. I know availability is rough for both of these, especially the CZ.

Any opinions on the best rifle to get between these two? I don't think I'll get a chassis right away, but probably will long term.

I just need a more economical practice gun than my current 6.5 creedmoor precision. Thoughts welcomed!

Shot the Christiansen rifle here a few weekends ago…she’ll put em all in the same hole at 50 yards if you’ll let her. Think my buddy paid around 7 or so for it.

Honestly with the right ammo, I don’t think you can go wrong with either. If possible, try to find a shop that had both in stock so you can do some side by side comparisons. See how each one fits you. They are both great rifles.

I think you'll be happy either way. I like the Tikka a little more, but by all means, they should both be winners. No matter what you decide, find the ammo it likes and buy a lot of it.

It's not cheap, but it's worth trying a box of Lapua Midas + ?? I'd have to look at the box again to be sure, but without question it's the most consistent 22LR I've ever used.

You will be happy with either. I agree about the Midas+ also look for SK Standard or Lapua Center X. I bought a few thousand of each a while back and wish I had bought triple that amount.

edit: here is the afore mentioned ammo out of my Bergara at 50yds. All are 5 shot groups from bipod and rear bag.

I actually ended up going a different direction. I got a good deal on a Bergara B14r barreled action, and put it into a KRG Bravo chassis. Not anywhere near vudoo money, but a step up from the Tikka and CZ. Now if only I could find SK standard+ ammo in stock anywhere. Hoping to break it in with some basic CCI standard velocity ammo soon!

And I see it’s just not a regular Bergara, it’s a carbon fiber barreled Bergara! She looks awesome!

Thanks! I couldn't find the steel version locally, but I got a very good price on the carbon fiber version. Other than looking cool, not sure there is a real difference other than weight!
True. And because it’s cool, chicks dig it, right 🤣

Trust me, the weight savings is a huge deal. I love your setup! Just keep an eye on the extractor on the Bergara. Usually after about 1000 rounds, they wobble a little bit. You will get brass that will not eject or that your hang in the action. The cure, for this is to take a punch and basically stake it like you would a castle nut. if you are lucky, it may never happen, but it did to mine recently. It is an easy fix, and do not let that discourage you.

I can't wait to test it, and I'll look for some Wolf Match Extra. I'm willing to try all sorts of ammo to see what it likes best. Finally mounted the scope today so ready for testing! Also, I hear you guys like pictures :)

Very nice rifle. Congrats! If you join Target Sports for a year you get discounted ammo and free shipping. They charge a fee to join, but I order 4 or 5 times a year and save quite a bit. They have Wolf Match Extra for $81.42 a brick as a member. It is made by Eley.

There is a way to test your skills. Check out the Feb/March Rimfire Challenge. Print the Alien Target and take a few to your range to shoot at 50 yards, then post your results w/a picture of your equipment and conditions that day. Informal and fun.

Congrats on the pickup. Set up looks real nice. Hope it shoots like you need it to.
The T1X is the next long gun 22 lr I plan on getting. I have the CZ 457 Pro Varmint for popping critters from the doorway or target shooting laying prone on the back deck. I also have a Bergara BMR that's my woodswalker gun at a full 1.5 lb lighter than the CZ.
I dont shoot competitions, but both are more than accurate enough for my needs. I dont need one, but Id love to snag the T1X so.I have a 16.5", 18", and 20".
You know, just because :)
