This isn't a super tiny house but it's still smaller than my living room at home. That said I think I could do this once my daughter is off to college. This little place is laid out so well that nearly every spot is used.

Pictures from the door area.

There is a loft upstairs with two small beds.

My wife actually says that we can sell our current house and find land to build one. I told her only if I got a shop/garage.
Finding land in the current climate where large production builders are paying top dollar for parcels has made that prospect extremely hard to execute.

Not meaning to throw a wet blanket on that dream. I’d like to myself, but I don’t think 2022 is going to be the year.

I really like the idea of a tiny home but I have too much stuff. Throw a nice size shop into the equation and it’s pretty attractive but I think it would look pretty silly to have a shop significantly larger than the house haha.

5,000 sq ft shop and a 10x20 house.

I think I could make due.

I can do single floor 3 bed 2 bath, but I start to get claustrophobic after that. 😬

I could probably do a tiny house if I lived alone, but hopefully in hope to never be I that situation.

i like my space to spread out crap

also, i won't likely be doing many stairs for the rest of my life. they tend to aggravate the condition of my knees.

I can’t do a loft bed permanently. I like to stand at the foot of the bed. If you know what I mean.
like to stretch in the morning?
(i didn't say stretch who...)

Don’t get me wrong here…I love the concept and the modern amenities of these are pretty cool and I myself would live in one but didn’t we call these single wides at one time….

This is more of an actual house. Built just like a traditional house but small.

I always wanted to build a one level house over a LARGE garage/shop on a piece of land, but a), the wife wasn’t interested, and b), my stair climbing days are pretty much over.

40 years ago my friend and I were talking about where we wanted to live.
He said a 100 x 200 Varco Pruden building with a single wide in one end.
I said we would need roll up doors in both ends of the building.
So wish I had done this.

And @Chuck had little Graceland.
The Gun Room and The Bunk House are Graceland built and delivered. Gun Room is 560 Sq Ft with two lofts....could easily live in it.....about 16 years old and holding up fine with Lotsa traffic......Bunk House is 288 Sq Ft with 80+ foot porch 10 feet wide.....could easily live in it........The Cottage and The Range Kitchen were stick built on site.......The Cottage is 400 Sq Ft........Nicer than our first "house"......both are plumbed with hot water.......the Outside Bath is plumbed with hot water and is 96 Sq Ft and an outside shower that is 48 Sq Ft..................
Sooooooo, tiny houseS are Easy to live with.

As any of you that have been in @Michael458 Trophy Room can attest to, A 100 x 50 Pole Barn can be amazing......marble floors and 5,000 Sq Ft of extravagance.

They’ve got “sheds” at my local Home Depot 20% off (I think that’s right I know they were on sale). One is big enough I could make it work to live by myself I think it was around $6k. It would need plumbing, electrical, insulation, and a kitchenette to be “livable”. I figured if I did everything my self for $10-$12k I could have decent tiny home.

I’m trying to sell my wife on the idea of living in a camper when the boy moves out. I’m thinking a couple acres with a two bay shop and a paved and covered area to park the camper will be living the good life. Ideally this dream will be about 30 minutes from some beach so I can fish regularly.

Single wides are cheaply built low cost structures of generally poor craftsmanship and materials because it's what a person can afford.

Tiny houses are, usually, made of high quality materials and impeccable craftsmanship. The point is to have a smaller financial and operational footprint, for a number of varied reasons. Could be fiscal, could be environmental, could be laborious...

Apples and oranges...

I live in a tiny house. It's certainly not a single wide. I sold my big house in Raleigh and opted out of the system. Tired of the massive time and money requirements of a standard size home that's mostly wasted space and costs. Now we enjoy a level of financial freedom and free time that most traditional homeowners will never see... Of course this is coming from a guy who would be happy living in his Sprinter van RV... 😂

If we didn't have kids we would love to get rid of crap and do the tiny house thing. Houses are like backpacks. No matter how big they are you will fill them up. I've been slowly trying to get rid of stuff the past year just ue to realizing it is mostly just clutter.

BTDT, got fat, had to get a double wide.

I'm always ahead of the trend, I was cool before anyone else knew it was cool.
