To Sling or not to Sling (Your Lever Action Rifle)?

I used the sling or a piece of 550 cord that I had tied multiple loops in it to loop over a branch of limb to help steady the rifle in while hunting. I always hunted wooded areas. With the 550 cord I would toss it over a limb loop the front of the scope tube for a stable shot. The multiple loops allowed me to have various height's depending on how high the limb was or how big.

Hhhhmmmm.... I should get a sling for my Marlin 1895.

When I got it it had this useless nylon strap, and after I took that off I never replaced it..... I should fix this.

I shoot my 30-06 and AR's with a sling , PCCs, and yes it is the way to get a great steady on the rifle, military teaches it for a good reason, but I would never put a sling on my Cowboy lever gun.. No true Cowboy would do that. LOL

It is personal preference, it gets in my way for fast access.I would think for hunting it would be good, I only sling my tactical or hunting guns . Not my competition or fun guns.

I haven't put one on my Rossi 92 (16in/.357) but I have a molle scabbard for a shotgun that works well. I have an elk hide that I was wondering what to do with. That might make a great scabbard.

I like the military look so a sling looks good to me. You just have to have enough there to clear the arc of the lever.
