The scales on this one came from a split tobacco stick. It’s my understanding, and I may be wrong, but I believe the first generation sticks were split rather than the sawn sticks. Would love to know if any of you guys know that history.
I had the planer out today flattening some select pine 2x6s for a shop table I am building. I grabbed a handful of tobacco sticks that I had laying around from my wife’s grandpaw. Most of them are Red Oak
that gives me a great idea. I do believe that I am going to make my wife a serving tray from his tobacco sticks
