Yesterday was our 33rd Wedding Anniversary and I asked my wife where she wanted to go. Her reply, "To the range to try out my new shotgun." I started another thread back in July about a Dickinson 12 gauge Ranger BP I got her for her birthday. So we loaded up and headed out to the range. The shotgun has a Streamlight with a remote pressure pad but I didn't have it locked down tight enough so it blew off from the recoil on the very first shot. So we left it off.

We were only shooting from the hip because I forgot to bring ear plugs and the headphones prevented us from looking through the 25mm Reflex that is temporarily mounted on the gun. I've got a 40mm with a riser on order.

I took two different 25 round boxes of 00 Buckshot. Black Aces Tactical and Aguila. I have many different types and brands of 12 gauge but I just chose these two since I recently purchased them and have never tried them before.

@Chdamn's Wife I'll have Susan call or text you sometime so y'all can go shoot it together.

Here she is shooting her last two rounds of the Aguila. She's about 5 or 6 yards out and puts two rounds perfectly center mass:

Now for the review.

We shot the box of Black Aces Tactical first. I was extremely disappointed but wasn't sure if the disappointment was with the shotgun or the ammunition. We ran through 4 mags (5 rounds each) and had at least two malfunctions with every mag. We finally quit shooting the Black Aces with five rounds left in the box and switched to the Aguila.

Instantly we were shooting a completely different shotgun. With the Black Aces, every hit was in a different spot, the shot pattern was wide, and the damage to the target was not near as great as the Aguila.
The Aguila ammo blew huge holes in the target and the shot placement was very consistent and predictable.

I was pleasantly surprised how the shotgun performed with the better ammunition. We blew through 25 rounds of Aguila without a single malfunction.

I can't wait to get the 40mm Reflex installed and take it (and my wife😂) back out and shoot it from the shoulder.

You bought a gun in July and waited 2 months to try it out? I’ve bought a gun an hour away from home and stopped beside the road and fired it into the woods because I didn’t want to wait an hour !

I know. It should be a crime.😅

I don't even go outside, just open my window and shoot at stuff. My neighbors are getting tired of me.

Me: Aguila is superb ammo compared to American. It shouldn’t be that way. Aguila bird shot patterns better than Remington and Federal. Must be the wad quality.
