So @Metalliman27055 made a thread about 20% at Academy and for under $400 out the door I couldn't find reason to resist trying a steel framed DA/SA any longer. Granted it's not a CZ or Tanfo, neither of which I have ever shot, though I've had opportunity. Anyway this happened

First impressions, this thing is heavy, I think USPSA lists it at 42oz. Shooting a gun that doesn't really lift when fired is weird.

The sights are awful, possibly worse than USGI 1911 sights, tiny and dotted.

The DA pull, bet it's over 16lbs, my LCR is lighter and possibly shorter, but it's pretty smooth; SA pull, it's pretty long, and still pretty heavy, travel reminds me of my XD, but heavier like factory Glock weight.

Accuracy is really yet to be determined, groups inside 15yds were ok, less than 2", running a plate rack at 25 wasn't difficult other than having to focus a lot on a straight trigger pull.

My minor load worked up in my Glock ran fine in it, with one failure to go into battery, something not obvious was wrong with the round. When I got home I found it had leaded severely, running a jag or brush the bore feels tighter so not sure what's going on there.

Springs, mags, and sights are on the to do list.

Springs ordered, can only get better.
I don't know if this thing'll become a match gun or not, it's so strange after so much time with the G17.

Cajun springs arrived, installed the reduced power trigger return spring and 13lb mainspring, FP and plunger springs will have to wait until my roll pin punches reappear or I break down and buy new ones.

FYI when removing/installing the TRS, wear safety glasses, I got complacent working with Glocks and 1911s that are as predictable as the sunrise and probably came an 1/8 of an inch from an eyeball requiring professional attention, that little spring is under substantial tension. I'd post a pic, but I sleep terrible so a little purple under the eye doesn't stand out too much.

Still too cheap to spring for even the cheapest trigger scale, so just subjective observations. The kit is advertised to reduce DA pull by 50%, I highly doubt it, I didn't put the whole thing in yet, but I bet it's still North of 10#. SA though is SOOOO much lighter. Also of interesting note there is perceptible take-up now that it has the reduced TRS, obviously it had to be there before but the resistance of it and the geometry of how far you were reaching in DA made it very awkward to get the trigger moving.

It occurs to me I may have reliability issues if I don't change the FP spring, guess I'll put some effort into a suitable punch.

I have a Tristar L-120 (light weight) that is a really nice pistol for what I have in it. It has a 9.4 lb Da trigger pull and a 4.5 lb SA trigger pull. For what these pistols cost, you can't beat them. This one actually shoots better than my old CZ 75B (which I no longer have).
