I have been shooting C size IDPA steel style for a while and enjoy it, but we thought we would try something new. I have seen these (but much bigger and nicer) used in competitions. I painted the raw metal with cold galvanizing and then painted the targets white with this fancy paint. I was surprised how quickly it arrived and how easy it was to put together. Seems well built and designed. It has two spring tension locations for heavy or light rounds. Any advice?

Or, be like me and repeat over and over, “top first! Top first!” Whilst shooting the bottom.

Dude, quit trying to copy my shooting style.

If I had a nickel for every time I flailed like an idiot on a Texas star I'd buy an Infinity Open gun and stop hanging out with y'all poors.

But sometimes, if you get it just right, starting at bottom causes star to spin so fast a couple plates will go flying off. Work this into your stage plans guys.

Looks cool, I kinda want one. What advice are you looking for, other than what @NKD has already said?
How to best approach clearing this for a beginner. You see people on the interwebs blowing through them, but they are advanced far beyond my skill. I hear things like shoot the leading edge, start at the bottom, shoot when the targets reach reversal of travel. All sound good....... but I ain't no Lanny Barnes or Jerry Miculek. Some of these folks are smoking this rack at 10-20 yards, upside down or on unicycles. I am lucky if I can hit something sitting still much less this thing. Any of you with experience? I would love to hear from you.

I'm no pro, but as was said I start at the top and then get to work. I don't put much more thought than that into it and generally do fairly well.

That is good to hear. I plan to try it out this Thursday. I will have a much more experienced person with me. I imagine he will make it look easy.

The idea of starting at the top is to keep all the weight towards the bottom to prevent t swinging.

If you DO get to swinging, then I tend to lock a spot at about 4-5 o’clock and hold steady there waiting for plates to pass through. That’s about where things will “settle” as the rotation changes direction.

Based on my vast experience, I’d wanna shoot it with a full-auto AR. Take aim at the 4/5:00 plate and dump the mag.

You‘re welcome. 🤓
