Happened at Cliff Pitts WMA in Laurens County, SC. Less than a mile from our house.
Details haven't been released, but the dead hunter was 34 y/o and worked with my daughter's boyfriend.
Boyfriend knew that he was hunting, and heard a shot from our place after 6pm....told my daughter that he must have got a
turkey.
He was married with two little girls.
Only details is that there were 2 hunters, not sure if they were hunting together, or just in the same place at the same time.
Cliff Pitts WMA is heavily hunted for all sorts of game.

Why I will never hunt on anything but private land. Too many tards out there. Hate this for his loved ones. Horrible stuff.
Unfortunately, the idiots trespass on private lands all too often. But agreed, much better than public lands.

Yeah it’s a shame but I won’t walk in the woods without orange even on private land anytime around a hunting season.

Yep, folks just don’t have respect for people’s private property anymore.

How far is too far to kill a human with a turkey load?

Since when are Turkeys wear reflective orange vests?

Sobering. Ive got a private place to go that has turkeys but its a drive. I need decoy(s). Never done it before. Have to buy a call. Got the gun, ammo and camo. A lot of effort for a stupid bird and then there is this.

Stupid bird?
When they get done with you you’ll think they were all geniuses.

Just this past Saturday I took my daughter turkey hunting. Since it was raining a little we just climbed up in the box stand. Had one roosting just 50 yards away. He landed in the pipeline across the creek from us (I own to the creek, not across). I called for about 30 minutes while he’s strutting his stuff trying to get him to come across to us. About that time POW 💥 and he started flopping. Daughter looked at me and said someone shot my Cobbler(aka Gobbler) haha. Sure enough did. 15 minutes later they came out of the woods, grabbed it and disappeared back into the woods. They own about 50 acres near by but crossed over to the pipeline on someone else’s property and shot it. Turds!!!

We were sitting at the blue dot, the other guy owns what’s marked X but crossed over about 100 yards to the pipeline and shot the bird at the red dot. BEED4E5B-7780-481B-B5EE-66D9EEC6B2E4.jpeg
