Used Car Market

Dang, I'm glad I got my '99 Taurus wagon and Sable sedan in 1999, ten months old from Hertz Car Sales, I got two cars for what folks paid for just one. $11,6000 for the Sable and $12,400 for the wagon. Still drive them daily, 296K on the Taurus and 264K on the Sable.

Unfortunately used cars just aren't a good deal anymore. There are so few new cars people are paying new car prices for used ones.

I've got a new truck on order, it might be in by the spring.

The loan companies that are related to the manufacturer sometimes offer additional rebates if you finance thru them, If you go thru a bank or credit union you don't get the finance rebate. It is usually $500 but can go as high as $1500+. So, the lenders plan on earning back the rebated amount plus plus and when you pay it off early they lose money. Oh well! They should have minimums of amount and length if they want to cover their arses.

it was over the high side of what you said and suggested by the dealer.
We had a good relationship with the dealer because it was the third van we purchased from them and my wife had them do all the maintenance. The previous vans were light blue fully loaded Dodge Grand Caravans.
this time the dealer was able to show us that there was a way we could get the T&C for less than a new Dodge.
its not like we trade every few years. One a caravan had almost 200 k on the clock and the last one was approaching 250.
the T&C is approaching 150K but unfortunately the dealership has been sold and the new people are out to screw anyone walking through the door.
My wife is talking about her next vehicle being a pickup like my Silverado extended cab 4x4 -

Bought a 2018 GMC Sierra late 2019 with a 6.2L engine and didn't realize that it requires Premium gas as per the manual. I was going to trade it in for at least a bit smaller engine.

Going to test some dealerships to see if it is worth it to trade. Not optimistic though.

That engine only needs premium for peak performance. It will run fine on 87.

I had a 2006 Caddy with the Northstar V-8 and it was the same. You could run 87, just wouldn’t get the advertised performance.
