VA Community Care system

Had my eye appointment outsourced to community care. It was fine. They sent me to a local eye doctor and then I went to the VA facility to order the glasses.
 
Do it if you can. Sometimes they don’t tell you about CBHC. My wife is a VA nurse.
 
Got my hearing aids through community care; local Dr and quicker than through VA; saved me having to go to Durham.

Same with my shoulder surgery; local doc and no travel.
 
I was denied Community care for my hearing aids as i live 63.5 miles from the hampton Virginia VA
 
my only issue with community care is when the place you’re going to for treatment wants to bitch about the VA.

look i’m just here as a patient, and only for a short time.

the 2 times that happen over the last few years i stopped going and the VA found me new places to go.

besides that, it’s pretty amazing and honestly community care down here in GA has been somewhat better than it is/was in NC. but there’s a lot more places to choose from being close to a big city and having a military installation (lots of vets in the area) helps also.

funny thing is, you know salisbury, and asheville are the big 2 in NC right, yea my salisbury or Asheville is in Charleston SC so they refer a lot of folks out using community care
