I have learned to tolerate them in the last few years. But the ones they put in your hip are really super easy and painless.
Ive had a 'hip' one before...man, that was my dang butt cheek

When I was on active duty, they forced me to take a flu shot each year. Every freaking time, I got the full blown flu two days later. I would go to medical and they would say, "it's not possible to get flu from the flu shot".

Im telling you they were wrong.

The flu shot is a dead virus; you cannot get the flu from a flu shot. You CAN get the flu from the mist, which is a live virus. Most people who get a vaccine, and get the flu, get the non-prevalent strain, and not from the injection.

only if its "HEAD ON, APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD"

Is a virus the "dead material" discarded from a healing cell? I heard this the other day, but I have no knowledge on the subject.

pretty sure you can get flu-like symptoms from the dead flu shot. There's no such thing as free antibodies. Your body has to have an immunoresponse.

While you can get "flu-like symptoms" from the flu shot, most people have side effects/untoward effects, and call them "flu-like symptoms." It usually comes from the preservative, and not the virus. For a flu shot, you don't need the live virus: the activated B cells and sensitized T cells will recognize the virus as an invader and create antibodies.

Ironically, the nasal flu mist with the live virus, it doesn't "really" give you flu, just can heighten the side effects, is less effective than the flu shot because the flu shot makes more antibodies, and the antibodies last longer. The flu mist triggers cells in the nasal mucosa, which makes the side effects worse.

Viruses are technically neither living nor dead, they are smaller than bacteria, strands of DNA/RNA, needing a host body to grow and mutate.

Sounds just like the welfare crowd.... lol

Thanks for the info and sharing your knowledge @Chuckman

interesting that you mentioned that part. Thimerosal.....aka mercury. Guess most people would have side effects from mercury even a small amount.

That'll be a hard no for me on both counts.

Try to buy some mercury.... See what happens.... ;)

Thmerosal...lol, not that's a whole 'nother topic deserving of its' own thread...(contains mercury, but isn't mercury....)

Not all vaccines have it, but flu shots, do. Others use different preservatives. Me, my Achilles' heel is bacteriostatic saline. Wherever I get a shot that uses it, that area turns red and swells up.

The good thing is that Covid-19 cured all flu deaths, so when we get THIS vaccine it should cure both cases of death! Magic! Science!

Years ago, say thirty, I was given the flu shot and every year I got sicker than the year before. Like some folks I quit taking the shot and haven’t had a comparable flu since. I swore I would never take another shot unless the purpose was to stop a life threaten sickness. The covid-19 is such so being an old geezer the choice is obvious although I will wait and see how things are going with the vaccine as well as the severity of the disease. Besides, I took every kind of shot the military could dream up and I’m no worst the wear so point me to the line for my shot.

No wonder you have trouble seeing the front sight!!!!:D

( I did too...)
Laugh of the Day Award, right here!

edit: Though the "dinghy" remark in chat was a close second.

Often times the flu-like symptoms come from the adjuvant, which is added to enhance the immune response to the target material.

Military been using the mist for years (shots were for those with allergies i believe).

I understand the vaccine liability stuff, but what law or group prevents studying efficacy?

I'm asking this because several of the papers I had to write in college dealt with efficacy of various medications and I found plenty of studies for those from hospitals, universities, and labs.
They may study efficacy of vaccines, but they are not required to share it with anyone. Everything about vaccines is different from regular pharma, by federal law... labeling, ingredients, development data, etc.

I'll get it. I'm not particularly scared of Covid-19, but I'm not particularly scared of vaccines either.

It would be great to avoid a few weeks of misery though, which is what Covid-19 is likely to bring. :)

Need to include maybe as an option. I don't want to be the first on my block to try it, but I'm not going to count it out later.

Vaccine? NO

The injectable treatment serum to aid in recovery from an active infection, sure.

One has been proven by decades of methodology and validated as being safe for the treatment of a wide variety of auto-immune disorders, the other, not so much.

I sure don't want to. But, I work in the medical field, where it will likely be mandatory. I will step back and see what happens and what my options are.

If it works, and its offered to me, sure.

I'm not going to go out of my way to seek it out.

I'm the same way with the flu shot. I'm at the doc and they offer it, sure. But I won't make an appointment just for it.

I probably will, but i have male pattern baldness and type A blood. Two of things Spain and Italy found was a good indicator of hospital stays. I am doubly screwed.

A lot of you boys hate science don’t ya

Oh yeah..... a science fiction story. I guess I'd base my life choices on that.

Lot of my posts are sarcastic BS, matter of fact, most of them are. You’ll learn

no problem taking vaccine. though depending on the type that makes it to market first, I may wait for a few million other people to take it first. I never buy something the day it comes out--phones, video game consoles, guns....I wait for all the unanticipated optimizations and go with version 1.2

No. There has never been a single corona class virus vaccine produced and approved after proper testing.
It is more likely that a rushed CV vax will kill more people than CV did. That's why Gates advocates testing it in Africa first.
re flu shot
My wife and kids do. At least 3 time they all got the flu and I did not. I've never had the flu. I've had bronchitis a few times. Pneumonia once.
