I did my load development before I bought this Chronograph, so today I wanted to compare my load (43.7gr Varget) with factory load of the same weight (different projectile). I was happy to see my velocity was fairly close to the factory ammo. .308 Win in a 20" barrel (AR-10 style, PSA PA-10 Gen3).
Reload 165gr SST, 43.7gr Varget 2642 fps
PPU 165gr Pointed Soft Point 2682 fps

I did load development up to 44.0gr, but decided to load at 43.7gr. Velocity somewhat close to Hornady Book 11th ed.

It was only 5 shots but you had one shot that really threw off your ES. Depending on your intended purpose you might be able to clean that up and be good. How was it grouping?

I was surprised at that first shot with the lower velocity. Without it, the SD was 5.4
When I developed the load, it grouped well between 42.0 and 44.0 grains. With no excess pressure signs.
I did not retrieve the target on the Chrono day, went to lunch. :) I also Chronographed 5 brands of 5.56 in my 16" barrel AR-15. Including 3 brands of 62gr M855/SS109. PMC X-Tac and PPU SS109 both were 2900 fps, the Norma SS109 was 2981 fps, SD 18.
