Damn, what a great Post!!!It looks like the timing was off. Here are some caps in order that I could pull. All at 14-15 seconds and at second 16 (not pictured), the barrel is flying through the air with the left part of the threads and an additional what looks to be 1" or so peeled forward of the left hand side of the barrel.
Right at ignition and gas/flame is already exiting the left side of the pistol.

Not the left part of the barrel peeled forward.

What do you have against firing single action? It's because he shot it single action...……...yeah I know that didn't have crap to do with it but it is a quick way to get hollered at on the Battery Oaks Range and by any number of people. You do it, we'll catch ya.

NOTHING...if it's a single action gun. What do you have against firing single action?
So what do you have against firing a da/sa revolver in sa? I’m not sure how to make the question more precise, maybe what do you have against firing a S&W model 10 in single action?NOTHING...if it's a single action gun.

Thanks for the explanation, I thought you were implying that there was a safety concern.JimB, you do whatever you want with your gun on your range. Here we all try to get folks to a place that they can use their chosen platform in the best way possible to solve the problem at hand. If you take time to draw and cock your gun I will shoot you 3 times before you get a shot off. Come and I will show you. Inside 10 yards you can't cock and shoot your gun any more precise than anybody shooting DA. Again, come and I will show you. This is Big fun here to bring folks to the DA way of life.
For sure he received a brand new one (or any other gun of his choosing) and Smith considers themselves at least as lucky as the shooter.I am also sad that an expensive gun was destoryed.

So, you're dedicated to defensive shooting and no long range stuff like Metallic Silhouette. I enjoy both.JimB, you do whatever you want with your gun on your range. Great!!! Keep on keepin on!!!! We love SHOOTERS here. So, you're dedicated to defensive shooting and no long range stuff like Metallic Silhouette. I enjoy both.
Seriously? I don't shoot revolvers, but if I did and some range Nazi RO gave me that crap it would be the last time they ever saw me. Safety issues, fine, but assuming how I should use my own firearm no f'n way. It's because he shot it single action...……...yeah I know that didn't have crap to do with it but it is a quick way to get hollered at on the Battery Oaks Range and by any number of people. Happy to oblige.Flashpoint We are NOT open to the public. Your being here is up to us. We All Make Fun of Each Other. If you can't take it like a big boy...stay away.
I shoot my revolver (Colt Anaconda) mostly SA, at 50-100 yard targets and deer.Great!!! Keep on keepin on!!!! We love SHOOTERS here.

So, the problem with shooting SA is because it doesn't prepare one for self defense? I would like to know who carries a S&W 500 for self defense, except maybe for tour guides in Alaska, and I doubt the bears will be shooting back.
I shoot for fun with a lot of guns that I would never consider using for self defense. I also practice with guns that I do carry for self defense. I see no problem with doing both.
But, by that reasoning, all SA only guns should be excluded as unsuitable?Billy's point is that if you were being charged by a bear (this is why people in Alaska carry them-self defense against bears) you will likely be firing that gun in DA mode.
If you are competing in practical shooting of any sort with a DA revolver, you will be using it in DA mode.
In a self defense situation, you will be using it in DA mode.
DA is far harder to master than SA.
But, by that reasoning, all SA only guns should be excluded as unsuitable?
He is of course not claiming that long range precision shooters or hunters Should/MUST shoot DA.
Billy is using humor to make the point that if you have a DA revo and can't shoot DA worth a crap, you should not be thumbing the hammer, you should be shooting the gun DA.
Which I'm sure he doesn't mean, but it is what he said
I can see, and agree with @BatteryOaksBilly on most points but you need to learn how to shoot a revolver BOTH ways because there are times that single action is too slow and double action isn't precise enough to get the job done. And yes, I know how to stage a trigger during the DA pull.
I like to think that I'm pretty damned good with a revolver, having been trained on them and then going on to train others in the proper use of a revolver. DA is without a doubt the fastest and all of my guns have been DA tuned for speed and reliability as well as SA tuned for precision, not the easiest of jobs to do correctly.
Personally, inside 20 yards with no cover I'll DA the shots. Beyond 20 yards and with cover I'll SA the gun for precision. Being a right handed shooter I'll put my left thumb to work in that scenario...
I just like to shoot my guns safely. With revolvers I sometimes shoot DA, sometimes I go SA. I only have one carry revolver, and it is DA only. If BoB decides to ride me like a whipped pony because I slide back a hammer for single action, I'll give him a good ride around the corral. I'm a big boy, I can take it. I'd be on his turf.
Besides...he would be so in awe of my marksmanship and dashing flair of good looks that he wouldn't even notice...
For what I listed (practical shooting, self defense) yes I believe a SA gun is unsuitable. Nobody stopping you from doing it.
Im not a tour guide in Alaska either. But in my experience with bears (black and grizzley in N.Idaho), you never "know they are approaching" and never have time to get "ready" really. True for most animals in the forest. But, if you did have time, by all means you can thumb back the hammer if you wish.
Personally, I would shoot it DA, because I shoot well in DA, because I practice it.
Again, Billy is using humor to make the point that if you have a DA revo and can't shoot DA worth a crap, you should not be thumbing the hammer, you should be shooting the gun DA. This is what good shooters do, and Billy wants people to be good shooters. It's not a personal attack, it's simply an opinion.
Wow!!! Thanks fellas, ya'll answered All those way better than I could. We do give each other a good ribbing here. As all of you noted there are times and places for everything.Well, since you are SURE he doesn’t mean it, go ahead and get angry anyway!!!
Let’s all get angry and call our representatives.
Billy made a ribbing comment about DA revos! He’s tryin to take our rights!!
He’s Hillary Clinton!!
Jeez fellas. Take a deep breath and put away your pitchforks.
And I don't even know how to reply to this nonsense.Safety rules are just fine.
But "you can't shoot that way because *I* don't like it" sounds like some Hillary Clinton talk to me.
He is claiming that everyone who shoots at Battery Oaks MUST shoot DA.
He is saying no one would even have the option to shoot SA if it was up to him
Sorry, but you can't decide when I respond. But we've been dwelling on this for long enough.
