Video: Reasons You Need to Go to the Hospital After a Self Defense Shooting

I didn't watch the video but I do remember my ccw instructor touching in this briefly.

He basically said that you should state that you are in shock and ask for an ambulance ride.

I don't completely remember his reasoning why. Pretty sure it had something to do with setting up the stage for your inevitable court case. I assume that if your in shock that counts as under duress?

This stuff is so hypothetical that it's pretty hard to talk about it like it's going to effect everybody in the same way.

prob not a bad idea in the event that you may have been injured and not noticed due to the adrenaline, or suffer some kind of collapse after the come down. people have been straight dead and walking through shootouts and not known it until afterwards

Good lord.

That video is hard to watch.

Any way I could get a cliffs notes of the 4 reasons without a 10 min video?
oddly enough, i seem to have already covered it before watching

say you were attacked, you had to defend yourself, you want to be medically evaluated, even if you don't think you're injured
you may have a crisis during come down
ask to not be taken to the same ER as the person you shot
cops are going to be processing the scene anyway, so they may or may not need you to talk
they'll come get you if they need you to talk
they may be on the hook for the bill if you're in custody

All this to avoid a hospital bill that you won't even get anyway if you don't go to the hospital???

I get the built in countdown hold before talking. That's easily handled by "I need a few minutes (and my attorney) before talking to you. K...thanks. Love ya."
