Saw this was on Netflix. With “never before seen material”. Guess I’ll try the first episode tonight.

we watched one of the documentary miniseries last year or so. my wife saw this one and asked what was different about it.
i didn't have an answer. i just said it's the 30yr anniversary, so go ahead and expect to hear more about it.

Also, I told her that when i was setting up the new wifi network, i was considering naming it waco3

After what you see what the Gov can do to former President can you really believe anything they say or do?

There's a thread about this on another forum, one guy pretty much saying that given what Koresh was doing the government what the government did was fine. He could not separate the two issues; what Koresh was doing was NOT OK (and he needed to be got), and how the government handled it was most decidedly not OK.

I was in Dallas for two weeks and the day the compound burned. We watched it on TV in our training center and listened to the commentators on the car radio. Those radio guys were ruthless in their joy for governments actions.

Mine has the default name the cable company gave it...

About 3 hardware changes ago. I have 1 neighbor in wifi range and they are not tech savvy. If I see login failures in the logs I will go to hidden ssid, limits on connections and Mac address filters but for now not so much.

What was Koresh doing?

So they proved he was molesting children? When did this happen?
Pretty sure some little 14 year old girl testified about her experience after the incident. Whether you believe he was a child molester is your own prerogative. I was merely pointing out what I think @Chuckman was referring to.

Well, thank God the feds murdered all the other women and children then.

edit: And, the answer to my question was "no".

Just finished the series.... Don't want to spoil it for anyone but since we all know how it ends.

Both sides have some culpability in how this played out, will the truth ever truly be known? Probably not. I don't really think there is a "truth" to either side.

My thoughts:
Anyone who is fixed in their beliefs is set up for failure, recognize that either side is willing to die (or kill you) for theirs.

Using an imbalance of power to get what you want can have disastrous effects.

Koresh was probably a psychopathic narcissist who truly believed he was actually the second coming of Christ. Not disputing he was doing illegal activities or immortal activities, but enough to warrant killing 90 people in the process?

Who ever thought they could convince him otherwise was probably a psychopathic narcissist as well.

The ATF and FBI turned the whole thing into a giant Charlie Foxtrot.... When it happens again, it'll be with far worse consequences.

The government investigated the government actions and determined that the government didn't do anything wrong and all the evidence was destroyed in the fire that neither side started.

Some of the FBI and ATF agents involved have really heavy weights on them from those days.

It's sad to see what humans will do to other humans

I really hope you're not expecting me to feel any kind of sympathy here...

I'm sure they were "only following orders"... I have sympathy for the human toll it has had on them but that's the extent.

Did they mention that the ATF built a, to scale, replica of the "compound" to train on before the raid?
Also, did they mention anything about the front door being intentionally destroyed as to cover the evidence that the ATF shot first?
Did they say that Lon Horiuchi was one of the people shooting women and children while they were running out the back door trying to escape the fire?

I also wonder if they mentioned that Child Protective Services paid a visit to the "compound" and the case worker said they were the most "well adjusted" children they'd ever interviewed.

Did they mention "Operation Showtime" at all?

Did they mention that Koresh was willing to surrender when he completely expounded his views of the opening of the 7 seals in Revelation? Yes that is hokey stuff, but he was willing to resolve this differently.

Seriously asking...I might watch this...but Don want to invest the time if they cannot speak to these issues.
I have many questions, but these are a good start. I really want to see this, but if its going to make my blood boil I'd rather not.

They mentioned about half of it. Problem is that it was a 3 episode (3hr total) docuseries. some of it was just mentioned - like using tanks to destroy evidence, and Reno not being shown all the evidence before authorizing the final offensive. No discussion of the links to ruby ridge or horiuchi.

I agree that the agents they interviewed seem pretty haunted by the whole thing. One will be a jerk about it until his dying day, but everything about his body language screamed that he was blaming the davidians because he couldn't handle the responsibility himself. but yeah, there was a good deal of discussion that it didn't have to go that way, and there were different agencies with different orders undercutting the negotiators.

They left facts out. They tried to tell both sides of the story, I’m glad my wife wasn’t home when I watched it. I was loudly cussing the Fed Boi murderers.

Yeah...sounds like a pass for me. This issue pushes my buttons. A man's got to know his limitations.

I was wound for a couple days. Especially hearing FedBoi’s whimpering about him and his Komrads getting shot whilst invading someone else’s property.

I watched the first two episodes with my wife last night. She was not happy with the government. I don't like the fact that they left a lot out, but it does make the subject more palatable to a larger portion of the population. Hopefully it leads to more people digging into the situation further.
