This is a huge longshot but is anyone here familiar with Whirlpool Duet Front loading washing machines? Or front loading washing machines in general?

Mine will not fill and I can not for the life of me figure out why. Door locks, then it will not fill.

I have run a diagnostic test and there is some water that fills. None fills during a cycle. I checked the water hoses for function and they both spray water.

I am thinking that it may be the flow meter?

Any help would be appreciated, this is super frustrating.

Is there an error code when you run the diagnostic?
Could be the water level switch.

See, that is the weird thing. No codes pop up flashing. I am running it again to see if I can get it to stop on a code. I am pretty sure it will just run all the way through.

I do not hear it spinning during the test though, and I believe that it should be spinning.

Thanks for the part suggestion, I am trying to narrow down the parts that it could be!

Maybe just put your stuff in and fill it by hand and turn it to the next cycle. Then you can have clean stuff for tomorrow.

Not sure about that washer. But, I field stripped a Whirlpool dryer and found a decent little manual hidden in the carcus and not intended for consumers. You might troll around online and see if one exists for your machine. Mine showed how to test most of the functions, sensors and components.

Try unplugging it for an hour, then power it back up.

So first thing first. Power it down. Disconnect water lines, jack up whirlpool washer and install speed queen commercial unit under pos whirlpool then haul the whirlpool to street and post free scrap metal on craigslist....the front load washers are crap.... buy the tr3 speed queen and pass it on to your grand children...

Iā€™ve worked on speed queen dryers that are easily 30 years old.

Lol find a old crosley. My dad sold them for about 15 years and rarely had to do much to them. The funniest thing was they would sometimes break the fins off of the agitators after 10 years when people would put a heavy load in. That was one well built transmission.

This dryer came with my house when I bought it, good to know what direction to go if/when I need to buy a new one.

Since we have all this snow, guess I have a full day to work on it.

You tube has the fixes for most appliances just type in your model and problem. Ebay is awesome for the parts. I got a factory rebuild kit for my dryer with insructions for $35.

Is the waterline frozen?
Disconnect the fill hoses and clean the filters.

Hoses and filters I cleaned and checked. They were not frozen. I have a new fill valve coming in today I'm going to try replacing. If that doesnt work, not sure what I'm going to do.

Youtube is your friend.

Wear long sleeves. Last time I worked on my washer I ended up needing $700 worth of stitches. I could have bought a new washer. And yes, I finally fixed it. Wearing long sleeves. Those interior edges are obscenely sharp.

Fill valve or level tube is blocked. Front loading machines are always problems as are low water use units. Buy a top loader with a big agitator and live long with less worries and cleaner clothes.

Fixed mine when it never stopped filling.

Speed Queen rocks. That was at our old home. Problem is that older backs and top load washers eventually become a pain, literally. Got a pair of LG front load with pedestals this time around. Time will tell.

Also, now that there is a tariff of foreign-made washers is there going to be a buying frenzy for those machines already in stock?

I am sitting here waiting for my new basic top load washer to get here. I gave up. The control board was fried, I kept unplugging different things to see if it would give me an error, nothing. It had no idea what was going on inside it.

So new washer. Went with a Maytag that was on sale.

Bring on the tariffs. I worked bringing in goods from other countries and sending goods to sister country manufacturing plants. Huge, huge pain to classify each good before receiving or shipping. China and Korea need to pay to play.

When Maytag was actually a company and not a sticker, I had a washer and dryer for 25 years. Washer still worked but dryer parts were as much as a new unit. So I replaced both at the same time. Bad mistake, new GE top load failed in two years for water sensing, dryer door switch failed in less than two years.

I once repaired a washer for a lid switch diagnosed in 20 minutes. Took it apart, replaced switch. Took 4 hours to put the panels and screws back in. Not made anymore to repair. Made to throw in the landfill. They donā€™t want you to be able to simple drop a panel and fix it. There is no manufacture revenue when people can repair their stuff.
