Aww gee wilickers mistah, I understand.Back in Jim Bowie's day guns were not very reliable and misfires were common. Once firearms became more dependable, the knife became less important. Today, the only ones that carry a Bowie knife are Sig and Kimber owners. 🙄
The story of the sandbar fight is... the most comical act of violence in american history. ehh not as fun as building my ownHere you go, they’re quite rare but might be able to make it work.
I'd never heard of that, thanks for the info. I wonder if anyone shouted WorldStar during the fight? lolThe story of the sandbar fight is... the most comical act of violence in american history. Also now I need to figure out how to make a bowie fit onto my mausers bayonet lug
It was the first recorded instance of someone saying WorldStar, although some say it might of been the words Brutus said to Caesar before stabbing him.I'd never heard of that, thanks for the info. I wonder if anyone shouted WorldStar during the fight? lol
They call them "Schwein-degen."The North Carolina knife will be a even bigger pig sticker.
Might I suggest a Randall Smithsonian Bowie?I don't own a Bowie knife. I need to correct this.
I thought for a second you's talking' 'bout Al.They call them "Schwein-degen."

If it had a double hilt, I'd own one..........but it don't...so throw it away and git back to finding' one!!!!After the disappointment of the Cold Steel Bowie I was still on a hunt for a Bowie. I would like to have had a Randall but it didn't want to pay the price. Besides, I would only use the knife for display or the occasional BBQ event.
I found, what I think, was a good value on a pretty nice knife, $43.29 shipped.
15 inches overall, 10 inch blade, camel bone handle with wood and brass spacers, and a pretty nice leather sheath. The blade is scary sharp.

The dollar bill is for reference as to the size but mainly to show everyone I still have a dollar.

The spine of the blade has some fancy marks on it, too.

Pretty nice and heavy knife overall. No markings as to the country of origin. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't made in the USA for $39.99 + shipping.
Most Pakistani knives are stamped or engraved on the blade " made in Pakistan" near the handguard.I just discovered a Pakistan sticker on the bag the knife was in. Now, does anyone know how to tell the difference in a real Pakistan or a fake Pakistan? View attachment 376051
My Cold Steel Wild West Bowie was delivered a few minutes ago. It's a big and greasy knife. An old Norinco SKS had less cosmoline than this thing. There was a hang tag in the box that said Cold Steel and no other indication that this was a Cold Steel product. The box and contents reeked of an odor, an almost smokey smell. I didn't try to clean it up but I could see machine or grind marks on the blade and the handles were loose. There's no way that Cold Steel has sunk to this level of workmanship. They must be paying someone to import these things. It will be returned tomorrow.
No pictures, it was too greasy.
I’ve never been a patron of Cold Steel, but I never doubted Lynn’s dedication to his products. He always struck as a true knife nut.Lynn Thompson sold Cold Steel to GSM Outdoors in December 2020.
It's GENERALLY expected in knife circles that the quality will be all downhill henceforward.
This Pakistan knife is 3 times the quality of the Cold Steel, at 1/3 of the price. I just couldn't believe that Cold Steel would put their name on something like this.Lynn Thompson sold Cold Steel to GSM Outdoors in December 2020.
