I’m wanting a 300 win mag and many of you on here have been very helpful in caliber and rifle selection choices for around 800. I settled on a Howa, but wanted the HS Precision. Little did I know that particular one costs double the standard 1500. This led me to research more and I found that Howa actually makes the vanguard barrel and I think another part of it, but the bolt is specific to the vanguard. This being said, is the vanguard as good or even the same as a Howa? Is the HS Precision worth double and would a standard 1500 be almost as accurate? Or should I meet in the middle on the Vanguard?

Bro you already started a thread on this…

Get the Howa in the Hogue stock. Use it as is while you save up some cash and then buy the stock. Most likely could find a used HS stock at half the cost.

I do apologize, I literally have only posted 3 times on here lol. Still learning the ropes. Honestly, I don’t have enough time to sit on here much, so it’s been a learning curve.

Would you say it’s not worth bothering with the vanguard then?
Correct. Get the barreled action that you want and you can always upgrade the stock when funds are available. Howa does make some of the Vanguard’s parts but not all of it. Why change it on the unknown when you can have what has been tested and proven. I get the attraction to HS Precision. They are really nice stocks. But you will get good performance with the Hogue as well. I’d rather save the money on the stock and put it towards the glass or trigger.

Thanks for the help, I think I will do that
