My two TVs have firesticks. When I turned them on yesterday, I couldn't get the Firesticks to function until I created a new password for my Amazon account and then signed in on both devices. What the heck? I've not been forced to create a new Amazon password previously. Two days previously my debit card was hacked and a couple hundred charged by Uber. Any possible connection between the two issues like our internet being broken into?

I’m not a cyber security expert so this info is worth what you paid for it. I believe it is most likely connected. If I were you. I’d go ahead and lock all my credit cards and bank accounts. Change pins on all your accounts and request few cards for credit and ATM cards.

The current hot topic in cyber thwarting circles in the tendency of users to reuse passwords. We are starting to search for compromised passwords when someone sets a new password. Once one email address is linked to any password, the hackers will try every site in their list with the same credentials. They get in a surprising amount of time.

If Amazon has access to the unwashed password they could search for a compromised password and force a change if detected. It would be unusual but not unheard of.
