Agreed with a member here on a firearm trade. Agreed on a meeting place and time.
He asked that I text him when I got there, which I did. I was 30 minutes early, but that’s just me, military habits are hard to break.
A few minutes before we are supposed to meet I text and ask him where is, no answer.
After the agreed on time my spidy senses start tingling.. something’s not right.
I text and let him know I’m leaving, but I still waited a few minutes in case he had issues.
He finally gets there, I inspect his trade, then ask to see his CCW. This is when he says he takes the class Saturday, I said no CCW no deal.
He asked if we can trade Saturday after his class, I told him depending on the county it would be months before he would get his permit.
GEEZ what an afternoon!!

Doesn't sound like he was a prohibited person, since he already owned another firearm that you were trading for, so what was the issue? Did you specify that he had to have a CHP in your communications before hand?

You can never be certain that any firearm in a private sale is not stolen, since civilians can't run a firearm serial number though the stolen firearms database like LEO can. I don't think that pawn shops or gun shops can run serial numbers either.

How did he know your gun wasn't stolen?

Just out of curiosity was the CCP a requirement in the ad or did you throw it in at the meet
This is the question at hand @1911lover

If you did not specify having a CHP as a requirement of the trade, it is you who squirreled the deal.

Edit to add: That is, was it an advertised requirement of the deal in the beginning, or was it a term added to the deal after the fact, after a bargain had been struck, because CHPs and PPPs are no longer required to trade/sail/cell/sale/sell handguns.

So the gun was his?

Did you tell him beforehand you wanted to see his carry permit? If you didn’t and dropped a sale requirement on him at the time of meet, you could’ve avoided that issue. Seriously. Look at the for sale rules here. I realize you didn’t name anyone, but if you dropped that info last minute, you’re at fault, regardless of how you construe the law and whatever organization you think you’re protecting yourself from. Just fyi

Curious what handgun this is related to. Last for sale post was 2021 by op.

And why is this thread in site related? Either you want to start a negative feedback thread, or you don’t.

Attention folks, if you, or your loved ones had a carry permit requirement dropped on you at the last minute when the person adding last minute requirement was the buyer(lolz), you could be entitled to compensation.
Please PM the law offices of @Burt Gummer

It was a trade. So maybe he was the “buyer” for a WTS/WTT ad?

The state dropped a handgun transfer restriction. Now we have people coming out of the woodwork to impose imaginary restrictions that they dreamed up to take the place of a law just repealed.

How about this , if you are scared just say you are scared. Maybe the firearms "hobby" is not for you , take up stamp collecting just be mindful of the rare paper cut ; or collect wheat back pennies , no sharp edges.

Sometimes gun owners are their own worst enemies.

Mike

Now we find out whether the op will do a "you know, that was a dumb thing I did. Just forget about it. You have a swell forum" or "I am going to cling to my ego here and be mocked, pilloried and humiliated for being a FUD and screwing up a sale."

The whole forum is waiting with bated breath. Bets are being taken in some corners.

And another true Fudd shows his colors. Sounds like the @1911lover is the one who deserves negative feedback. Seriously, if you’re too scared to do a private sale by following the letter of the law, nothing more nothing less, then perhaps you just need to stick to going through FFLs future deals…

Hey @1911lover .... don't take the savagery too serious. We love to have fun here, and I am a little pissed off anyway because my wife took the last beer and I had none for dinner.

I DO think you made a mistake, but at least you did not threaten to kill a mod's family or call them a retarded garden snail. I have known people like that.

I DO think you made a mistake, but at least you did not threaten to kill a mod's family or call them a retarded garden snail, YET. I have known people like that.
