I've always wanted a Jeep...

I'm thinking I want a used vehicle with no doors on it. My kids are the perfect age to get really excited about riding in a vehicle with no doors and no roof.

I want something that'll be fun to ride in, carry feed on the farm, go mud riding, and make short trips to town (7 miles each way).

It needs to have 4 wheel drive and look decent.

And, I want to spend less than $10k on it.

What should I buy: Jeep, Humvee, Scout, etc? Is there anything cool in my price range?

If you want something to tinker on, the old full size Jeeps are cool. J10’s/Cherokees and Wagoneers.

Im about to sell my Cherokee as a trail rig but it can’t legally be run to town.

I was over on The Beach a while back and noticed folks have finally caught on.....People quit spending Thousands on Golf Carts and are buying up Cheap Smart Cars. They take off the doors and have a drive anywhere vehicle.

I use my work truck for four wheeling fun. You know what they say about company cars vs a 4wd right? Company car will go anywhere.

No doors and no roof pretty much spells Wrangler. Sure you could take the doors off a Cherokee but it just wouldn't look the part IMHO and I don't think there were any convertables.

Possibly an older Bronco.

There's some sort of jeep thing up the road from my house. No doors, etc.

I'l be glad to get some info for you. Private party, too.

I would vote Scout but they are so rare, that might not work. Next would be a 73-75 Blazer but same issue as the Scout. Jeep YJ would fit your budget with room for upgrades. TJs might not work with your budget but I haven’t looked at them in years, so the prices may have come down.

I am a landcruiser guy, but their prices have gone crazy..... get a sequoia and take the doors off.
The Kid showed up Saturday in a 1977 Diesel Land Cruiser. He got it from a Costa Rican coffee plantation. I had forgotten that they were a dead ringer for a CJ5. I am deeply envious of the rear Jump Seats.

I got this 4 door Honda for 13k and 2 door is much less

I had a 1972 Ih Scout II for many years. That thing was a beast and a lot of fun. I think it got about 10 miles/gallon.

For that monies its a '99 to '06 Jeep Wrangler aka the TJ or LJ. Resale value stays up, easy to work on, endless aftermarket support and they are pretty dependable and tough. There was actually a 10k LJ for sale somewhere recently for 10k...ish. I will post a link if I can find it.

The power steering was worth the extra scratch to us.
I found a deluxe 4 door for $600 more. The power steering was nice but the deluxe had horrible looking wheels and the body panels were painted. In fact the one I looked at was the bass boat red. The base model had colored plastic. My grey panels are gray all the way through, so if they scratch then it’s not a big deal.

@NoBodyImportant

Mine is the red hood but it's not paint.
Are you talking about the factory aluminum wheels?

I am on the hunt for some turn signals and Radial tires, prepping for October 1st.

Yeah I like the steel black wheels better. The red one Gastonia had was burgundy and had god awful metal flake in it.
