What are you drinking?

What did you think of this? I've read some very bad reviews of this stuff.

Keep in mind my whiskey experience is not vast. I have had Green Spot and liked that. Had some 12 year Red Breat I liked. The Defiant is not as smooth and has a bit more bit and flavor. I like it, but prefer the others. Although they are more money also. The Defiant is drinkable for me, and probably good if you like a bit more flavor or spice.

Grabbed a 10 year Bushmills today to add another one in a little lower price to add to my sampling. Would like to find something preferrd as a normal go to under $40. Don't think I want to buy $60 and up bottles all the time.

Anyone tried the Troy & Sons? Their reserve was about $39. Moght be next on my list.

Just about any Bushmills is a good choice in an Irish whiskey & they only get better as you go "up" the scale. Black Bush is great, their 16 y/o is incredible & the 21 y/o sublime (but SPENDY). I've got a bottle of their 2008 4ooth anniversary bottling set back, in fact. Ran ~$85/bottle back then & the first bottle went down so smooth & fast, I had to grab another for "safekeeping".

Kilbeggan is very nice & $20-ish/bottle. Feckin is also nice & a few bucks cheaper. I do like Green Spot a LOT, but at ~$40/bottle, Teeling Small Batch is incredible. Also, be on the lookout for Jameson Caskmates. Aged in oak barrels used to store Stout & is incredible. ~$30/bottle.

I like most all types of whiskies, from a super-peaty Islay to a nice Rye, but Irish is my favorite & a regular go-to.

Gonna work on some of this today.

Voodoo Ranger is a nice twist on a Belgian-esque IPA & clocks in at 7% ABV. Hop Hunter's "only" 6.2% ABV, but if you like bold, hoppy, in yer face IPA's, this is your brew. Summer Fest is Czech style lager, with just the right hoppy bite, but still very crisp & refreshing. It's a killer summer time/warm weather beer.
That's a mighty fine looking fridge right there. We're headed up to Asheville in June and I can't wait to take a tour of the New Belgium brewery. We went to Sierra Nevada last time.

Thoughts? The Food Lion at my house has a ton of it and the bottle shop near me keeps posting about it.
Sorry for the late reply! I was a little underwhelmed by the white oak IPA. I really wanted to like it, but just wasn't blown away. Was it bad, no. Will I drink the other
7 I have on hand, you bet. I'll stick with the regular JA.

I am guessing the keto is loooong gone. Been a few brew pictures with you lately. But a man's gotta live right?

I'm on vacation in Spain. I'm not dieting with all this amazing food and booze... When I get back... Back on the wagon...

Sampling a little Topo 8 Oak. Figured I'd try another NC whiskey. Not sure about this one. Has a sweetness to it. Maybe honey and vanilla. I tend to like something more dry. I'll plug away and give it a chance. I am certainly not going to dump it after all.

Edit: Definitely vanilla. Lots of it. Not my thing. Drinkable, but you better like sweetness and vanila. :(

Some Laphroaig this evening....if I shoot the glass from the top down you can't judge me for the depth of the pour.... which is to say deep.

Can anyone upload a pic? Was trying to upload a pic of Oban Distillers Edition and website isn't cooperating. Pic may be forthcoming, in the meantime just use your imagination.

It's freaking delicious. Just no pictures.
