This will be my first hunting season in NC.

Just wondering what anyone else is planning to use.

For bow season, if I get a chance to get out, I have a Bowtech Fuel. I also have the choice of a crossbow (brand escapes me atm).

For black powder, I have a CVA Wolf 50 cal. Hoping to get a decent load with either 44 or 45 XTPs and Blackhorn 209. I also have 44 FTX to try.

When it comes to regular firearms, I'm thinking about my 5" 629 with the Ultra Dot or maybe my 1894 44.

Unless I suddenly find a place to go, I'll just be on my own little piece of land. Longest shot I can get here would be maybe 100 yards but more likely 50-75.

I doubt that I get a chance to bow or muzzle load this year. Rifle season will be my suppressed 6.5 Grendel.

Barnett 380 crossbow, CVA Optima 50 w/Blackhorn 209, gun season will be either Marlin 336 30-30, Remington 700 270 or my goal is the No4 Mk1 303 I’ve had since I was 7. Never shot anything with it, built a diy scope mount & reworking the stock. Now just gotta find ammo.

Some pse bow I bought just to hit the woods a month early and a t3 tikka for rifle season. Been casually looking around for a Remington ultimate muzzleloader but just can’t make myself pull the trigger on one for a 2 week/year use.

I bought the CVA Wolf, stainless/synthetic, at a Walmart about 5 years ago. It was February and they were on clearance. $99. Couldn't say no

I’ve decided bow is out this year even though I want to hunt with it. Might finally go to a cross bow. Between my shoulder and my lack of time it’s not likely to happen.

ML is a .50 Remington online unless I get that crossbow then I’ll use it.

300BLK handi rifle suppressed

Yep - I enjoy shooting a vertical bow more than my crossbow, but I don’t have the time to practice with a vertical..

If I'm able to get a place to hunt (which is unfortunately by no means a guarantee), I intend to use my Marlin 336w in .30-30. That's all I've got right now that's appropriate for use as a hunting rifle in NC standard hunting conditions.

edit: Hm. I guess I could use my M92 AK. That'd be interesting.

Either one of my mk12 clones, mk18, .357 lever gun, ak47 or 22-250. Just depends on what I feel like when I head out the door. Muzzle loader would be a TC white mountain carbine.

You must have moose sized deer you are trying to kill.
Lol, figured that was coming. The 7-08 gets the nod most times. The 45/70 dont tear up too much but the correct ammo must be chosen. It really shines in the thickets .The 454 casull ,well I've just always wanted too but ain’t done it yet.

If I had a 45/70 I'd use it. I use a TC Impact 50 cal muzzle loader with 290 gr saboted Barnes spit fire bullets over 100 grains of loose pyrodex. And a Rem 700 in 30-06 with a Williams peep sight. I use a 30-06 because it's the only centerfire rifle I own. I'll hunt with a 35 Rem instead if someone wants to give me one!

I hunt on the coast of NC. I don't own a muzzleloader and it's too hot to hunt during bow season normally.

Depending on the location I go between a 12 ga franchi intensity, rem 700 30-06 and a 9mm Cz 75 p01. CZ and remmy slapped down does last year. Hoping to change the cz to a 5" m&p but depends if I get a holster for it between now and November.

Most don't, I brake but don't swerve for animals. Really hate it for the owl, those are some truly interesting birds.
I brake hard trying avoid hitting any animal. But, you are right not to swerve. I couldn’t tell you how many wrecks I’ve seen over my career from swerving. They miss the animal and then wreck from overcorrecting, trying to regain control of the vehicle.

Same here I've blown out tires on a semi truck to avoid dogs and such hate to hit any animal but I'm not wrecking to avoid them. Still hate it for the owl really tore at me to kill such a beautiful animal.

I'm going to use the Vermont apple trick again. It works like a charm, I've tagged out every year since I started it.
