wash em in armor all wash and wax and all that goes away. Another benefit to wet tumbling, even new brass.I used some new 44mag brass one time and had one heck of a time running them through the expander, I finally had to lube them all to get it to work. Lee powder-thru expander.
Actually, I tried that. I was very surprised it did not help, can’t explain it.wash em in armor all wash and wax and all that goes away. Another benefit to wet tumbling, even new brass.
I would clean that die with brake clean and spray some CLP on it and let it sit for a while. The powder thru dies do get stick especially if you have it set to flare muchActually, I tried that. I was very surprised it did not help, can’t explain it.
Not a bad idea. It doesn’t hurt to take the insert out to clean/polish it once in a while.I would clean that die with brake clean and spray some CLP on it and let it sit for a while. The powder thru dies do get stick especially if you have it set to flare much
Loaded up some 9x19s with 3N38 and SRPs and 147 HSTs. I wasn't getting the expected velocities with SPPs, so talked with VV, did some research, and figured this was at least worth trying out. Started with the min load and worked up to max with a 1.152" COAL (book is 1.142" with XTPs). If this works out as I expected, then I'll be looking to trade several thousand CCI 500s for CCI 400s in BST soon.
I'm still getting about 100 FPS below the advertised velocity (even with a completely different lot of powder). I figure I'm going to switch to Longshot after I use up my 3N38.The Wolf SRP work well with 3N38, FYI.
Good solid crimp is a must for clean burn.
I've not used 147's, only 115/124gr so YMMV.

Increasing COAL seemed counterintuitive to me, but made sense once you described it. In this case, I'm running in a 4" Glock, but sticking to the book load, so hopefully not blowing any fingers off.If I were seeing 100fps below book with a 5" barrel, I would get closer to the lands.
(Increase COAL).
If your shooting a 2011 then you will probably hit max mag length before hitting the lands?
Cruised the PSA website tonight and found several items reduced in price. Stupid not to buy these
Yep.The taper crimp seaters can be used as separate crimp dies, just remove the seating stems. Good deal!
That isn’t the garage, that is the Reloading annex.Cleaned some brass. Technically I did it in the garage not the reloading room.
