What have you sold that you wished you had kept and why?

OK, the first handgun I ever bought was a Walther PPK Stainless. I ended up trading it and some cash for a Sig 226.

I should say that at my young and tender age, I was certain I wanted JB’s (007) preferred concealed carry. But then, the Sig 226 showed up on my radar. I was smitten at that point.

Now, I have neither and would like to have both. [emoji23]

A pristine 4" S&W 629 Mountain Gun that I got for a song.

Why? Because it was a pristine 4" S&W 629 Mountain Gun.

I sold all the ones I did not want anymore

Sig P230. Too big & heavy for a concealed carry .380 IMO, but man was it fun to shoot. Kinda regret selling my CZ452 American, as well. Little jewel of a rifle & very accurate, but became a safe queen & moved down the road to fund something else.

Belgian Browning .270 - Truck repairs
German Sig P220 Duo Tone - School
2X Norinco Underfolders - Doubled my money, but never ever again. If I get one now I’ll pay more for it than I sold the others for.
S&W 586 4” no dash blued, no more than a box of ammo through it - Went with the last Norinco as a combo deal.

I don’t sell rare guns that I like anymore, too much of a pain to get back. I put enough money to the side to have an emergency buffer.

That's a harder question for me than one might think. I'll try to be brief.

I made a decision to stop hanging on to things for purely material reasons. With mixed success, I have acted on that decision. As far as firearms go, I have stuck to a plan which is nearly complete. There are times when I regret getting rid of each one that I have sold -- some more so than others. But in my heart I know it was the right thing to do. (In other areas I have been generally less successful. But stay tuned. I'm working on it. :) )

I had a sweet California Highway Patrol marked mini 14 with LE marked magazines. Its internals had been hacked on and it would sometimes go full auto until it emptied the mag. Guy I got it from wanted it back so I sold it back to him.

Beretta 92 FS, sold because I didn't like the safety on the slide.

Early build M&P 15, sold because I wanted to fund a different gun

Glock 43, sold to fund Sig P938

B&T APC9, sold to fund other gun stuff, really regret this one

1943 Remington Rand 1911A1
I wanted a 1911 to shoot and that one was just to nice for what I wanted/needed at the time.
I should have saved my money and the RR and bought something to shoot.

A 8 3/8 P&R 629 no dash. I paid $450 for it back in the early 90s. It was the best shooting 44 I've ever owned. Silky smooth action and was very accurate, it didn't have the big throats like some of the 629's, presumably it was made with a near worn out chamber reamer. At a pin match a fellow asked me how much I would take for it. I said $800, thinking nobody would pay that much. He pulled 8 100's out of his pocket, laid them on the tailgate of my truck, and picked up my 629.

I almost cried.

Winchester 1894 I bought some time around 1999 for about 250$, new, back when Winchester still made it. Would be quite pricey if I still had it. First gun I ever bought. I ended up pawning it for a hot meal (not literally speaking) during a rough time and never managed to get it back.

Beretta CX4 Carbine, gone around the same time for same reason, most fun gun to shoot I ever had.

I had a sweet long range rig, rem700, IOR Scope. Lots of custom work.
got laid off, it represented 3 mortgage payments and I sold it. I regret that one a lot.

Star Firestar 45. Loved that hunk of steel. I would really like to find one, or a Firestar 9mm to add to the collection without spending too much.

Had a G19, got rid of it for a G48, got rid of that for a CZ Rami, got rid of that for a Beretta 92s.
I loved them all in different ways, but I bought a G48 new recently, so I guess that means I missed it the most!
The Beretta will have to be pried from my cold dead hands, though.
And I now have three guns that shoot 9mm....damn. Might regret that part of it.

None. I’ve only sold off three guns in 36 years. 2 Smith semi-autos (.45 &.22), and swapped a Winchester SS model 23 for a Browning Citori.
I’m about to throw a Kahr PM9, possibly a Sig P229 )I think that’s the right #), and a G34 on the for sale list.

I sold a 2 Mosins and a spam can of ammo a couple years ago for dirt cheap. I really enjoyed those guns and in retrospect did not really need the couple hundred dollars I parted with them for.

Live and learn.

A bull-barreled Ruger Mark II. Owned it for a couple months. Sold it for what I paid.

regret it because it’s the only firearm I’ve ever sold...

629 3” (no lock).

Miss that 6 shooter and if I ever get another one, I won’t let it go.

I don't really regret selling any of my modern firearms because I can replace them if needed. I've sold several antique Winchesters and Colt SAA's that I miss occasionally.
