What thing do you buy for a handgun that depreciates the most if/when you sell it? Or what has almost no value to you when you are buying a used one? I know there are exceptions that somebody can name in each category, so I'm asking in general, excluding certain brands/specific products that maintain a high resell value. What are your thoughts/opinions?

I’ve never considered the inclusion of a holster to warrant the increase of a price of a firearm. When selling separately it generally has to be at a pretty good discount rather than me just ordering a new one from the original company. That, and many of us have differing preferences for our type and style of holster.

What got me thinking about all of this was a add I saw where the poster had more money in holsters than in the gun. I agree with you, I'm trying to think of a nice way to tell someone that their $400 in leather, is not worth spit.

I voted holsters because being lefthanded 99% of the time the one offered is wrong handed anyways. Second would be lights and lasers.
I'm also lefthanded, so holsters are worthless to me. I just wanted to get righthand peoples opinion.

I voted for Holsters
If someone tell me I got a 100.00 holster I can throw in, I try to be nice and not hurt their feelings.
Instead of of saying no you don't it stopped being a 100.00 holster the minute you opened the package

Holsters, as others have said it's like underwear. I have my preference and it probably isnt the same as yours.

Mags are probably #2. Proprietary and they are 1/2 price used on a good day.

Lights and lasers can go on almost any gun. Used market on tlr1hl tlr7a and x300 is actually really good maybe 70% value

Holster without question.
You'd better have some kind of darn nice holster if you wanna boost the sale otherwise it's just added weight.
A Chesty Puller rig with your M29, a fleur de Lis with your single action engraved colt.
A serpa with your G19 isn't worth $5 let alone the $50 you're trying to bag with it.

Seems like the answer is “everything.” Any gun I’ve ever sold, the extras are just for enticing the sale. Unless you have like a box full of mags, I’ve not seen any extra add-on thing bring more value to the gun.

I've sold some oddballs where the mags were more valuable than the rifle when looking at the relative cost at point of purchase. Rifle was $1300 new, sold for $875 used. Magazines for it were $50 new, sold for over $100 (still new in box, but pre owned).

I voted grips at first, but then noticed holsters. Grips may be the correct answer though. They are terribly expensive but add zero resale value.

A correctly stippled 1911 or Hi Power front strap increases value
Spegel and Herret and ivory grips increase value

Nothing increases the value of a pistol made out of reconstituted Frogg Toggs and recycled Castrol 10W-30. Thinking your polymer pistol upgrade increases inherent value is like thinking putting a WalMart Task Force socket set in an old JIF jar for organization is going to double the price on the secondary market.

Hands down, what depreciates the most are the rounds. They're single use and once thrown down range are pretty much worthless.
Actually, the fired cases have some value, depending on the cases.

I bought a pistol here a few months ago that came with a holster. It would not have been the holster I would have chosen, but it was a decent holster and I am using it with this gun on my USPSA belt. I definitely counted that holster as adding some value to the package. Without it, I'd have had to buy a holster plus pay like $10 or more in shipping. Granted, this was the very first time I have ever thought a holster added value to a gun I've looked at. But I'm just saying, it can happen. 😄 Last time I bought a gun that came with a holster, it was some monstrosity from Alien Gear. It's on my shelf of holsters in a kind of sequestered place so it doesn't infect the others.

Voted holsters .. lights and lasers wouldn't even be included for me because you have some very decent options and lights are actually useful mags would be a quick second

I've seen very few handgun accessories that would be exactly what I would want if packaged with a handgun for sale. So for me they all have a zero value. Exception would be magazines.
