What is the quietest 30 Cal can

What are you looking to do with it? General blasting, hunting, precision rifle? Do you want qd or direct thread? There’s lots of good cans out there I have a harvester 300 I hunt with its light and suppresses well but is a thread on and can’t take large mag dumps. I’ve got a sandman on order and it’s qd with no barrel restrictions but heavier. So give us a bit more of what you want in it and we can help.

Looking for the best 30 Cal can for the money?
I think those are two very different questions.

1. Quietest .30 can
2. Best .30 can for the money

I think the answer for #2 is the YHM Resonator.

I have no idea what the answer to #1 is right now, but there are so many other things to consider than a dB reading. Plenty of cans that meter a little louder sound "better" to shooters because of the tone.

And weight, length, mounting system, and modularity features are more important to me than the advertised meter readings.

Which .30 caliber? The requirements for .300BLK gonna be a bit different than for .300WM. Sure you can use the same can for both...as long as it's rated for magnum rifles.

THIS!!!

You'd see major benefit shooting a 300BLK thru a can rated at 300WM,

you are not giving us enough info...
Which 30 cal round?
What barrel length?
Semi or bolt/single action?
Single shot only, or needed for multiple follow ups (full auto rated)?

Additionally, are you going for simply "quiet" or reduced mechanical noise?

SIG recently got into the market with their own lines of suppressors and is doing a FANTASTIC job.

Additionally,
YHM has really stepped up their game in the last decade. They offer great prices, and great products.

Surefires are excellent but overpriced.

AAC products are very good, excellent customer service.
SilencerCo products are top notch and their customer service is probably the best in the game.

GemTech is good.

AWC, while they were pioneer 20 years ago, their customer service sucks, and their products are outdated.

KAC- the biggest douches on the planet. They got the military contract back when this war started, and forgot about all the little guys who got them to the party.

I am basing the following off of my personal and professional dealings with the above companies...

Not to pile on, but... I understand if sound level is your primary focus but do you care about weight, size, mounting system, cost?

I’ll also echo the tone vs dB’s point. This is called out often during reviews. Check out TMAC on YouTube, he does great dB tests IMO.

QD as I'll use on 2 rifles for the time being and they're precision bolt guns.

Currently running a 6cm and 6.5. will probably end up with 2 6.5's in future. 24-26" barrels. Weight isn't an issue.

And you want them to be 30 cal?
You will give up some performance using a 30 cal can with 6.5, and 6mm ammo. Not much, but some...

If I'm not mistaken most precision rifle shooters who shoot suppressed use thunder beast arms suppressors like the ultra 9. I have no direct knowledge about them

TBAC Ultra 7 is probably what you are looking at.

Or:
Something from Q (Trash Panda) Dead Air Sandman, Rugged, or XYZ manufacturer that’s been around awhile not named Rebel.

Vox or Omega. With KeyMo or YHM.

Are the hosts already threaded? If so, are they all 1/2-28 or 5/8-24?

If so, meet me at PHA on Friday morning and you can try a couple on those hosts.

They are, bergara and rpr. Sadly, I have to work on fridays, unlike you rich folk :) but I'd like to take you up on that. I wish my magneto speed would work with a can :(

Unless you like sinking extra money into brakes I'd stick to direct thread for precision rifle applications.

I've had a TBAC 30P-1 since 2013 and presently have a Dead Air Sandman Ti in jail. My main shooting buddy also has the Sandman Ti. Both are direct thread and neither of us has observed any degradation in accuracy. We shoot these side by side often on 6.5 Creed and .223Rem. The sound and tone of both cans is very similar and quite good. Neither of feel we have any sound suppression performance loss shooting either .224 or .264 bullets though a .308 caliber suppressor.

TBAC's Ultra's are also awesome and very lite, but north of $1k w/o tax stamp. The Dear Air is just over $900 w/ tax stamp through Silencer Shop. Do NOT let the low price mislead you, as this is a very high quality suppressor, very well suited for precision rifle applications. This is why I have one in jail. I needed a second .30cal suppressor to run on an upcoming PDog hunt. Only "heathens" hunt unsuppressed. ;)

TBAC Ultra-7, you can run a brake, flash suppressor or direct thread. The flash suppressor doesn’t ring when the bolt’s closed or firing. I’ve the 7” & 9”, the 9” gives an additional 2db reduction.

Additionally,
Are you talking about overall quietness?
Are you including First around Pop?

The first round is usually louder because their are combustible gasses in the can.

You can also use an ablative medium such as
Dog Slobber from Alpha Dog.
The ablative helps reduce first round pop, it keeps the temperature down a small degree (pays off big in sound) and causes additional turbulence inside the can which uses more energy which equates to quieter performance

Just make sure the can is rated for it

What time you going? I'm off friday!
As close to 8a as I can manage. My son has half a day of school and I'm planning on being back in Charlotte by noon to grab him.

I need to shoot the December rimfire target. Also need to see if cleaning my 9mm SBR was all it needed. It ran a couple mags last time and then wouldn't go more than 2-3 shots without a malfunction.

Based on the forecast...I think I'll postpone my trip until one morning next week. 8a-11a doesn't look much fun tomorrow.

@jmccracken1214 - any chance you're off one day next week?

I run a Sig SR762Ti (direct thread) on my Sig SSG. It's very quiet, but does affect accuracy a little. I don't have a ton of money to dump into cans to figure out which would work best with my 24" .308, but it still maintains sub MOA at distance.
