What options do I have in .308?

Savage hog hunter great little gun shorter barrel factory threaded

That's what I got. Put a hogue stock on it and a monarch scope. Didn't think I'd like the accu trigger but I do. Definitely a nice rifle for the money

I "had to" have an AR10 a few years back. It was a want not a need. Used it about 2 deer seasons and then sold that heavy ass gun after it set in the safe for a few more seasons. After adding the 50mm scope, adjustable stock, etc, it was not my preference to carry what felt like a treated 2x10 board. I built it how I wanted to but never accounted for the overall weight until it was all together.

Just purchased a Bergara HMR 308 that has a 20" barrel I think. Plan to upgrade the trigger and screw an Omega 300 on the end of it, that's it. Then shoot as many does in ag fields as legally possible.

It really wasn't what I was looking for, but a neighbor just brought home his prize from a recent raffle. It was a RA Go Wild! (who comes up with these names?) in .308.

I say it's not what I was after because of its 22" barrel, but I couldn't pass up a brand new rifle at a roughly 20% discount, no tax, no 4473, and just a few doors down from my house.

Next step is to mount the can and sit in the blind. If it's not too cumbersome, I'll leave it as is. If it's just a huge pain in the ass to maneuver it around, I already have a guy lined up to chop and thread the barrel.

I realize I need to find the (hunting) ammo it likes, but a few suggestions would be helpful.
I am very pleased with my Hornady SST ammo. I shoot 165 grain out of the S&W AR10 I have listed for sale but the also make it in 150 grain. I think you’ll just have to buy several boxes and see what shoots best out of that rifle.
