What to use to remove gunstock finish?

Old wooden stock needs refinishing. Original finish is patchy and in a poor state.
What is the best stock finish remover? Found one at Midway online but it is discontinued and had mediocre reviews.
One fellow told me to use Easy-Off oven cleaner but I am not sure about that.

Old flacking finish?
Use a dull knife blade to break the rest off.
Then steam any dents out.
Sand with 220 and 330 using a wet rag to raise the grain to remove the whiskers.
Then apply the finish you want.

scrape and acetone. wet cloth and warm iron for dents. YouTube has lots of good info.

I like to use cabinet scrapers.
