Cleaning out & purging lots of old clutter. One thing I did was (finally) consolidate all the 1 gallon cans of used mineral spirits I'd accumulated over the years in woodworking & construction.
I typically poured the residue from brush cleaning, etc., back into a metal can & labeled it "Used." Most of the solids (stain pigments, paint solids, polyurethane, etc.) settled out over time. Sometimes I would use it as a parts cleaning solvent, but I didn't clean enough parts, it would seem!
I now have a 5-gallon bucket of filtered, discolored, but otherwise very minerally-spirity mineral spirits. Of course, I could take it to the haz waste area of the dump & pay to "dispose" of it, but I wonder if anyone has a good secondary use for it.
Oil heater? (I don't have one.) Parts cleaner? Sex lube? Chicken wash?
What say you?
