I am looking for a very specific shotgun and am wondering if I can post a WTB thread in the shotguns for sale and trade forum.

Thanks.

Oh, well now I see I haven't just overlooked where to post "Want to Buy" threads.

But this raises perhaps a naive question. If you can post to "sell and trade", right out of the gate, which I -think- is the case, or at least with a relatively low post count, what is the rationale behind the standard message board vetting only being applicable to "wanting to buy"?

Truely not looking for a fight or anything, it just seems to me that either -all- classifieds activity would be not allowed for new members or the sell/trade parts, but not the want to buy parts exclusively.

I'm betting there is an obvious answer that I am missing here, but I ain't getting anywhere figuring it out on my own.

Also I hope just making this post is preferable to starting a thread with this question, if not.....blame it on my FNG disease.

Maybe not obvious…but a definite answer.

We had many occasions of people being scammed after posting a WTB ad, then a scammer would sign up and send a PM. So, we eliminated the ability for a new member to initiate a PM.

That obviously caused some issues with legit members not being able to start a convo.

So we changed it to where newbs can PM, but they don’t see the Wanted section until they reach the same number of posts previously required for PMs.

It’s not a high number. You’ll get there soon if you’ll join in on some discussions, or start your own threads in any section.

Additionally, if you become a supporting member, you have immediate access to the members only BST…which doesn’t have that minimum post count limitation. 😉

Oh well, the first reply answers the PM question that I would have next had.

The second reply makes me wonder why scammers are such cheapskates. Or so patient and dilligent. With that kind of work ethic, makes one think they could succeed in a legitimate business. Caveat emptor regardless :)

You seem level headed and polite. Are you lost?

Kidding and welcome! 🤪
