I know Raleigh had tons of good indoor ranges and most, if not all, don't allow steel case ammo or non slug 12 gauge ammo.
What's a good range around RDU that I can use all my x39/556 steel case Tula ammo?

Frontline Defense, it's worth the trip! Open weekends to the public, otherwise M-F members only. Slugs only and steel cased ok.
Green tip and all ammo OK on the paper targets on the 100yd rifle side, never allowed on the steel targets.

Durham Pistol and Rifle Club also does not have a blanket no go for steel cased ammo, they just don't want you to shoot the steel targets with it, is all.

Do they think that the case gets fired along with the bullet and hits the steel target?
Most steel-cased ammo has a bimetal jacket (copper washed steel). They have magnets mounted to some of the posts to check the projectiles for steel. A steel case cartridge with a non-magnetic projectile is ok. A brass cased cartridge with a steel core is NOT ok.

Ah ok. Did not know that. Thanks.

Anywhere around Mini City? We used to hear gunshots nightly lol

Most places that only allow brass are only in it for the benefit of sweeping your brass for themselves. Sure maybe that donā€™t want you dinking their targets, but mostly to further their gain on you shooting there. Some will tell you that you canā€™t even police your brass.

I think Eagle One has a range but lately there has been a lot of shooting out in the parking lot there and at On Point. I guess folks dont want to pay to rent a shooting lane inside.

I did a quick read of the rules before I posted and didnā€™t see anything about forbidding steel case. @Miss Lily
That was my first hand experience at the wake facility. I planned ahead, got a reservation, did the paperwork/class before my shoot time, then when I was finally at my lane, the RSO busted out a magnet and said "no steel core" and all my tula failed. I packed up and left. It'll be brass for the next time but I'm still looking for a place to use my tula rifle ammo.

Yes, if you actually find steel cased ammo that DOES have a regular lead projectile they'd be fine with you shooting steel targets with that. As luck would have it I just saw that somewhat rare beast on ammoseek the other day.
