Thanks to our “Hot deals” section, and a friend sending me a link, I am looking at these 2 scopes for around the same budget.

Not factoring in Mrad vs standard and a 4 power instead of an 8, which scope would probably be overall better for quality and more importantly clarity? The PSA is on sale this weekend for $299 with the promo code, so darn near the same price.

What will you use it for?

My $ would go to the PST. I have one (have had for years) and it's a proven quality choice. That model is simply being phased out.

The Strike Eagle's have - justified or not - a rep as the budget glass option.

The 1-4 PST was discontinued years ago. Not a bad scope but is what it is. The new SE is a very good scope for the money and what I would take between the two. I like the reticle better and glass between the two will be a push.

Literally going on the GF’s 14.5” AR pistol because it’s about the same price as a magnifier but zooms farther

😬

Are we all comparing apples to apples? Older Gen 1 PSTs to newer Gen 2 SEs? The new SE are not like the old ones.

I have both (for the record my strike eagle is first Gen) and I would go with the PST over the older strike eagle. No experience with the Gen 2 SE.

PST.

SE I have used were.... not ideal. I had the 1-6. Have tried the FFP 1-8x24. Really hated it. Maybe the SFP one is better.

Edit: for 499$ you should find the PST 1-6x24 which is awesome for the money. Just my opinion.

I had my first session with the PST today. Forget the SE, the PST is sooo good.

The clicks on the elevation turret are very positive and the image is clear. 4x was no problem at 700 yards. Holdover 6.4mil, or dial it in. Great scope.

My only gripe is the reticle is a little hard to distinguish the stadia. Only 4 and 6 mil are marked, and the lines for 2, 4, and 6 are just slightly wider than the rest. It would have been nice if they made them bolder.

Really, I just need to spend some time dryfiring with holdovers in mind so I can get used to it.
