Have any of you ever found certain spirits made you angry, aggressive, sad etc where others just get you feeling relaxed and less inhibited?

I've not been able to nail it down but certain whiskeys make me pissy. I can be having a fine day and two sips into a new bottle of something I start feeling aggressive. I think it's got something to do with the barrels it's aged in, but that's just a WAG. It's only happened a few times in 35 years, but it's distinct enough to remember it.

This is true..
If I drink TEQUILAS I get super hapoy and buy rounds for everyone….

I get irritated when I drink jack-wild turkey.

Conviction-blantons-Buffalo trace-Weldon mills-olde raleigh, I’m chill

Bookers and bullet gives me heart burn

Beam in volume used to make me mean/destructive.

Tequila will make me want to fight but I usually come across so funny I can’t pick one.

Any other spirit I’m chill and just want to have a good time.

Cheap Tequila will get me in trouble....

Have you paid attention to your mood before the drink?

If I'm in an ill mood to begin with, liquor typically magnifies it.
Yep. In every instance that I have a bad feeling everything was fine. People who know me can speak to my "one mood all the time demeanor" as I'm generally about a 7 on a 1 to 10 happy mood scale.

I'm typically the happy go lucky type, always trying to make myself or someone else laugh.

I drink to chill mainly, or knock the edge off of a not so good day.

The exception being kayak camping trips, where I start at 9am, because you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

Ethanol is ethanol. It all has the exact same effect on you. Your expectancies are what drive any different experience

Ethanol lowers inhibitions, which means I am more likely to laugh if something is funny, and more likely to square off if something makes me mad.

Yes, but like I said in the original post, I think it's something other than the alcohol. Maybe the barrel it's aged in.

That impacts flavor. But I think that’s all it impacts.

I do however detect a different buzz from beer, wine, or spirits. Might be imagined. Dunno.

Different grains, different sugars, different other things lift behind.

I’m a happy talkative person when I’m drunk, doesn’t matter of the liquor.

But. I get hangovers from vodkas, do good on tequila and quality bourbons.

This is a fantastic idea for a government funded study.
I’m going to submit a proposal to the Biden administration and will need a few “volunteers“ for the program.
It will need multiple iterations and because it is funded by the government, each volunteer will be paid $100,000 per year and there spouse will get an additional $50,000 to accurately report their observations.
Volunteers and spouses will be required to vote multiple times for Democrats in each election.

I'm truly surprised I haven't been punched in the mouth more than I have.
