Who is the member that does brass castings?

Hey!
Do you have pics that show the cast part in more detail, and what size it is?
Do you have one/some to use as a pattern that the sand mold would be formed around?
Would this be something custom that is not already sold, Like a different size or configuration than what you linked on Amazon? The reason I ask... if something is already commercially available mass produced, it is usually cheaper than what I could custom cast in low volumes.
Thanks!

They are pretty expensive there. All they are is an l block about 1/2" thick. I would do the drilling and tapping and threaded rod is pretty cheap.

Nothing available from Rockler that you like? They’re not cheap but probably cheaper than custom cast brass.

I wouldn't think a brass elbow would be that expensive. Live and learn.
The trouble is that you need a pattern to use to form the sand mold around. If you are copying an existing part, then there’s your pattern. And if you have more than one part to use to make the mold, then you can make multiple parts per mold, which reduces the cost.
But if you get a pattern in this case, then you’d already have bought the parts you need. : )
And, my cost per mold usually runs at least $60 (or more depending on size/complexity of parts) in order to at least make a little money over breaking even. So if you had 4 pieces for me to use as a pattern, it would still cost you at least $60 for me to make 4 of them in a single mold, which is more than you’d pay at Amazon to just buy the kit.
Unfortunately it’s the labor involved, plus equipment (building, sand, crucible, propane furnace, etc) that makes it expensive, even for a small part like this that doesn’t involve as much cost in actual brass material.
If it was mass production, where someone paid $2000-$3000 for a professional pattern to be made where we could make like 20 elbows per mold, then you start to get the cost per part down cheaper. But then you still have to make enough of them to pay back the cost of the pattern.
